@LauraineJacobs @grantrobertson1 @jacindaardern Again, the climate is still not best suited to grow lettuce over winter. What limited ones are grown will be expensive. That prime soil @ Auckland would be far better suited to grow crops appropriate to the climate not the consumer. Lettuce meals should wait for the summer.

@ballomes @grantrobertson1 @jacindaardern You don't know me obviously. The lettuces are harvested in local soils around Auckland year round. Much better climate than Woodville. Ask any well informed food writer.

And this @grantrobertson1 and @jacindaardern is what we hate (yes, using that word) about limiting our shopping to supermarkets. Growers who don't have contracts have to let their crops rot while the supermarkets price goudge us. You could change this.

@gingerjohn68 @Graiseconsult1 We also split difference on a Sunday so it’s 21hr not 24hr gaps Ie Friday pm - 2.30, Sat - 9.30am, Sunday 6.30 am, Monday 5.30 am

@ballomes @Graiseconsult1 Really interested in this idea but wondering what the cows make of it. Do they figure it out? Especially OAD 2 days in a row at the weekend. And are you really saying they milk as well as TAD or have I made that up?

Milking 26 into the vat for first pick up tomorrow, on 3 in 2 milkings with cups on at 6am, 4pm, 11am following @ballomes system, feels like a great compromise between OAD and TAD although it's weird finishing a milking at noon. Some cracker cows in there😍

@gingerjohn68 @Graiseconsult1 I’m not keen on OAd. Can’t afford the drop. We were still doin 1.44 on May 1 after 3in2 till November then 10/7 for rest of season. Did record per cow, great incalf and great CS. Cows get used to it. I tell people their first investment should be a mirror 😂

@Graiseconsult1 @ballomes I’ve been reading up on dairyNZ since I posted that question. Very interesting concept. Previously thought it would have to be 16:16:16. 😭. Now I’m contemplating 10 in 7. Been OAD for 3 years, not enough milk but reluctant to back TAD.

I made a decision this season to milk at 2pm in the afternoon instead of the classic 3. It’s hands down the best decision I’ve made to date. First month of calving down, cows winding up, 71% up daily and I think 75% for the Season and it’s time for a gin.

@Graiseconsult1 Great stuff, although we have gone full season 10 in 7 this year…TAD Monday, Wednesday Friday. Did if from Nov. last season, cows still did 400kgms, 1000/ha and were doing 1.44 1.May…..😳🤷🏻‍♂️ #thefuture
