For the second straight year, there are no Black golfers in the Players Championship.
That raises the question of how much the game affords opportunity to players of color who want to reach the highest level.

I actually had this as a job in the very early 70s. It sucked big-time. People would pull up to our gas station in Provo Utah to buy $1 of gas and have me scrape off their dried hard bug-caked windscreens.
There was one bright moment when Stephanie, the new girl in high school, drove into my gas station with a boy. She was a tanned, blonde California girl that every guy in my year had a crush on. I dragged my ass out to her car, embarrassed as all hell to have her see me doing such a lowly job as a gas jockey (for which I was paid the princely sum of 75 cents an hour. Yeah I know it's less than minimum wage, even back then. Who should I sue now?)
Anyway, Stephanie gave me a bright sunny smile and opened a conversation in which it became abundantly clear that, rather than looking down on me for having a menial job, she was IMPRESSED that I was working a job. There were more than a few sideways barbs at the guy she was driving with, because apparently he did not have a job. He looked pretty disgruntled, and I never saw them hang out together again.
No I never actually dated Stephanie, but her attitude really changed mine. Forever after I never looked down on someone for a "menial" job, because if Perfect California Girl Stephanie could be impressed by my having one, then wow.

Things were different then…

Go to the gas station to buy Zyn. An Indian woman in her early 50s is manning the register. "6mg citrus Zyn please." She looks at me like I'm asking for a unicorn egg. I'm pointing at them, but she can't figure out what I'm pointing at. She grabs a can of Skoal, I tell her no. I'm still pointing and saying "to the right" and she has no idea what I'm saying. She comes up with a tin of snus. I tell her no again. An Indian man her age takes over, same thing happens.
I left my two drinks on the counter and just left. Can't handle it anymore.
How do they run a business without even being able to grab a simple product behind them? Sick of it.

Today, I coincidentally ran into an estranged old friend. We stopped talking 2years ago because her husband used to message me and make unwanted advances. When I told her about it at the time, she wasn’t supportive, so I suggested we end the friendship.
We stumbled upon each other in a boutique & She smiled, but I ignored her. When she said hello, we ended up having a short talk. She told me she wanted to discuss something, and I found out her husband had left her a few months ago for another woman and not a stranger, but a distant relative of hers.
I didn’t know what to say, so I said, “Well, I feel sorry for you, but I don’t know what to say.” She wanted me to unblock her number and everything, but I quietly ignored her.
I wanted to be more empathetic, but I was cold. wonder if I’m judging myself too harshly, but I feel like we don’t always have to be available to everyone.

@outofheresooner @DebbieM26863727 @Timodc @AndrewKolvet She was purposely blocking traffic which is why they approached her vehicle in the first place. Are you dull or are you just pretending to be?

@outofheresooner @DebbieM26863727 @Timodc @AndrewKolvet By federal officers for interfering with duties.
18 U.S.C. § 111 specifically. Hope that helps!

Two unpopular opinions on the Minneapolis shooting:
1. The woman who died was at fault. She was acting erratically, inserted herself into a dangerous situation, and behaved in a way that put both herself and others at serious risk.
2. The ICE agent acted on instinct and fired too quickly. He should not have escalated to lethal force in that moment. We need full body cam footage to understand exactly what he perceived, but based on the video available, it does not appear his life was in immediate danger as the vehicle was moving away.
The left is already calling this blatant murder.
The right is already claiming the woman was trying to kill the agent.
Neither narrative is accurate.
The woman who died acted dangerously and recklessly, and the ICE agent drew and fired his weapon too fast.
If both sides don’t pause the political posturing and focus on de-escalation, Minneapolis is headed toward another night of chaos just like George Floyd.
ICE should temporarily pull back from the community, and leaders on the left need to clearly and forcefully call for calm and nonviolence.
There’s almost no chance both of those things happen, which means this situation will likely get ugly and Minneapolis could burn again.
I know this take won’t make me popular with either side but it’s just my initial thoughts on situation.
