Let’s be clear, once and for all: A true no-hitter is a feat of grit and determination; it’s just one man out there on the mound for nine innings, battling fatigue as he navigates the opposing lineup not once, not twice, but at least THRICE, refusing to yield. It takes STUFF. It takes MOXIE. A combined no-no, meanwhile, usually involves a parade of hard-throwing relievers that are permitted to let every pitch rip at max velo while also receiving the benefit of hitters only getting to see them once that day, confidently draining the tank because they know full well that their chunk of the game is just an inning or so. Praising six guys for throwing a “combined no-hitter” is no different than praising six guys for running a “combined marathon” in an hour and a half. In both cases, you take a definitively individual feat and stick the word “combined” in front of it after dividing up the workload to a point where the participants don’t need to pace themselves, keep anything in reserve, or reinvent themselves the third time through the order. Combined no-hitters are not a feat of performance, but rather one of mathematical rarity; each of these relievers throws a ton of hitless single innings every year, one at a time, and getting them all to happen on the same day is just a numbers game. Happy Tuesday, chief ✌️

I love the dichotomy. One minute you’re a whiny little bitch being bullied and the other you’re a threatening tough guy. Come out to Jersey and I’ll gladly say this and more to your sorry ass. I’m 6’6” 260 lbs and experienced in self defense. They don’t call me Big Ron because I’m undersized.

This kid took a picture of me from behind, didn't tag me or use my name, nor say this to my face when he had the chance. LOL. It shows all of you that all these cowards want engagement and they think bullying me will help their profile. This is pathetic behavior.

If the game was on the line and you had to put a catcher in CF to make a catch, who would you be picking?

Such small thinking. My boy used baseball to get into an excellent academic college. He got some money off tuition but that’s only part of it… Meanwhile, baseball was our family vacation for years, and we all met great friends. He didn’t go to summer camp or do any of the other summer things that other kids do… Plus my boy had fun, competed, and did something he loved. He played ball at many colleges and it motivated him to study so he could go to college. What was the ROI? Who knows. But I’d gladly do it again…
Coach Vint@coachvint

I talked a dad who told me he spent $10k a year on travel baseball between tourneys, travel, and gear for his son. He got a partial scholarship to D-2 school. If he had put the $10k in a mutual fund each year, he would have had about $190,000. The scholarship was $5k a year.

@kxander60 @SmPotatoes Oh wow, congratulations on contributing to pay for play! Why didn’t you play Babe Ruth or Little League?

@baseballslims @SmPotatoes I was good enough to play legion ball. Did have to pay to play. And yes, you hate poor people. So your soul needs all the help it can get, but then again we all do.

@kxander60 @SmPotatoes Yes, praying for the soul of an internet stranger is odd behavior. I dont hate poor kids. Just think you should stop being salty about not being able to afford travel ball when you were a kid 🤷‍♂️

@CodifyBaseball Depends on the roster construction perhaps but probably a liability most of the time. GOAT bench player though, especially for the postseason.

How valuable is an MLB hitter who only bunts (never fully swings) but consistently hits .350 doing it? Assume he has the elite speed necessary to pull this off (so he can steal bases) but that all hits are singles. Is he a good offensive player or an offensive liability?

@kxander60 @SmPotatoes You just said I wasn’t good enough for the teams that pay for coaches. Now I’m a liar?
