Friend, you are doing exactly what the disciples who rejected Christ’s teaching in John 6 did explaining away what He clearly said because it does not fit your theology. Your argument about John 6:63 is a context fallacy and poor exegesis. When Christ says “the flesh profits nothing,” He is not denying the Eucharist; He is contrasting human understanding with the life-giving power of the Spirit. If He meant the teaching was only symbolic, the entire crisis in John 6 makes no sense many disciples left precisely because they understood Him literally, and Christ did not call them back to correct their misunderstanding. Instead He let them walk away and even asked the apostles if they would leave too. Your interpretation is eisegesis, reading your Protestant assumption back into the text instead of letting the text speak. As for being born again, the Catholic Church has always taught that rebirth happens through baptism, exactly as Christ says when He speaks of being born of water and Spirit in John 3. The problem here is simple: you are trying to reinterpret the clearest Eucharistic discourse in Scripture to avoid its plain meaning. That approach is exactly why thousands of conflicting Protestant doctrines exist. Your exegesis is extremely weak, and your eisegesis has become a serious stumbling block.
