Funny how the methane crackdown only ever seems to land on the cow. Here are the ones quietly getting away with it: - Wetlands, the largest natural source on earth, drain them - Termite mounds, twenty million tonnes a year, kick them down - The oceans, somebody plug them - The Amazon, the trees themselves emit methane, fell the lot - Wild deer, bison, moose, antelope, off they go - Permafrost, freeze it back - Wildfires, ban fire - Rice paddies, abolish Asia - Human beings, hold your breath Or we could accept that methane is part of how a living planet works, and ask why only the cow got the press release.

It's coconut oil, modified starch, and titanium dioxide pressed into a slice. It's not plant-based meat. It's pea-protein isolate, seed oils, and methylcellulose extruded into a patty. It's not a butter alternative. It's an industrial spread invented by a soap company. It's not a milk alternative. It's water with oats and additives, sold for double the price of milk. Every product on the plant-based shelf has been linguistically rebranded to borrow the legitimacy of the food it replaced. The cow has not been consulted on the use of her name. The sheep has not consented to the term vegan wool. The marketing department in London has consented to all of it. The animals predate the marketing department by ten thousand years. The marketing department will be gone before the animals will.

Student Stabbed To Death, Police Handcuff Victim Over Claims Of Racism. In a horrific case that has sparked outrage over interracial violence and policing priorities, a 23 year old Sikh man is on trial for the murder an 18 year old university student. Henry Nowak, a first year Accountancy and Finance student at the University of Southampton from Chafford Hundred in Essex, was fatally stabbed multiple times in the chest and leg while walking home from a night out with his new football teammates in the Portswood area of Southampton on December 3, 2025. Prosecutors at Southampton Crown Court allege that Vickrum Singh Digwa, armed with a large Shastar blade, described in court as an extremely large 21cm ceremonial knife carried openly in a sheath, chased down and attacked the teenager following a brief street altercation. Digwa claims he acted in self defence after alleging racial abuse. According to the prosecution, the incident unfolded around 11:30pm on Belmont Road. Henry, who had been celebrating the end of his first semester, was captured on Snapchat footage sending videos to friends just moments before his death. Digwa, reportedly carrying the oversized blade, confronted him. Phone footage played in court shows Digwa saying, I am a bad man, as the confrontation escalated. Henry suffered a deep puncture wound to his chest, along with wounds to his leg and a cut to his jaw. He collapsed from massive blood loss and died at the scene despite desperate attempts to save him. Disturbingly, when police arrived, they arrested and handcuffed the victim, Henry Nowak, based on Digwa's claims of racial abuse. It was only after he passed out that officers realised the severity of his injuries. First aid came too late. Digwa, of St Denys Road, Southampton, denies murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place. His mother, Kiran Kaur, 52, also of the same address, denies assisting an offender by hiding the murder weapon. Both have pleaded not guilty and remain in custody. Ten thousand years of being the most useful animal in the field, the foundation of the food system, and a keystone of every landscape lucky enough to hold them. They are not the problem with the planet's future. They are, quite plainly, the shape of it. We repaid all of this by putting them on the front of climate reports. Magnificent animals.
