@QadoshKyrie @johnnarae @bbtbpod I’m so sorry that happened Brian. In our experience the easy, cost-less talk about victims happens and the moment it is associated with an actual cost to them - they run for the hills. Your story shows that cost isn’t primarily financial.

@bbtbpod My wife and I went to the church Stephanie mentioned. When we started asking questions, we didn't feel comfortable becoming members. After Stephanie left the church, we learned from her that the pastor told others we did not want to talk with them anymore.

@codyfields864 @reachjulieroys @MattChandler74 @ChurchLead Yes, with known protections in place. We would rely heavily on experts to determine proper boundaries for a member with a past of child sexual abuse.

@reachjulieroys @MattChandler74 @ChurchLead @bbtbpod Would it be safe to assume that you wouldn’t have an issue with Chandler’s dad being a repentant member in good standing? Not asking that leadingly.

The Village Church, pastored by @MattChandler74, has released a statement to @ChurchLead regarding employing Chandler's father--an admitted child abuser--as custodian for 5 yrs. This is 1 of tworst statements I've ever seen & doesn't even address the specific issue. @bbtbpod 1/2

@ChristaBrown777 @bbtbpod Yes. Jay's ending was so needed, and is such a balm to those #SBC #survivors who needed to hear their elder boards, pastors, and average congregants to say instead of looking the other way or victim-blaming.

@Skjaldmaer1 @KarefulKarenF These funds were support raised by the employees. When self funded employees bring in support it becomes property of the org to distribute for work completed as the salary. In this case we chose to pay out the totality of funds raised by the employees in severance.

@KarefulKarenF @bbtbpod Cause I honestly don’t know. Were the funds raised only as self-support (like they do for YW@M) or for services for survivors? And I’m curious for someone who knows to answer & not just on hearsay.
