@stevemagness This is silly. Of course they are pacing themselves. Sure they are running 4:40 miles but they could be doing 4:20 and are choosing not to. The goal is to win the whole thing not one mile. Same in the NBA, the goal is to win the most games not a single game or single quarter.

At any point in the marathon, you aren't trying to go all out for that mile. Some you'll go harder than others, but it's to maximize total performance. In NBA, it's the same. Some games are harder. But you're trying to maximize over the entire season/playoffs, not one game.

The best marathoners are pacing themselves. But I think what he's trying to get at is: they are riding the edge based on the total demands. It's the same in the NBA. Pacing isn't taking it's easy. It's setting yourself up to reach your goal, given the totality of the demands.

@jsulbyrne @StubHub The listing price, set by the seller: $17 or was it 17.50? I'd guess the fee is 11.99 and they are rounding it up. Which is at best a software mistake and at worst kind of scammy. Combined with the other dark tactics they do...it's hard to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The concepts are pretty straightforward - identify known bots and known bot patterns, make smtp connections to verify real inboxes, etc. For most the goal is to avoid spam traps/honey pots.
