@jwatte @DominicJPino @PostOpinions The issue I have is BART didn't seem to care about being a viable business, ignoring enforcement of their own rules left many trains unusable, certainly for families. I've see live defecation, urination, and inhaled vapors from various pipes. Oh, and no fare enforcement.

The nominal wage growth tracks US wage growth almost exactly in the same 2013 to 2026 time range. Nobody complained that we still maintained roads that were sometimes empty when Covid locked down the Bay area. With RTO, ridership is increasing each quarter, so BART seems like a resource worth keeping.

The Bay Area Rapid Transit system's labor costs rose by $150 million between 2019 and 2024. It used all that extra money to complete 73 million fewer trips. @PostOpinions looks at the financial death spiral of public transit in the Bay Area. 🧵

@dweekly Honest question: I don't understand people who watch YouTube videos longer than 10 minutes. What can a 4 hour video possibly bring that's worth the time investment?

For a 3-4hr multi-speaker YouTube video, what is the best automated process for accurate, diarized transcription and identification of key "chapters" / points in the video? Context: looking to better structure and index our school board's meeting recordings.

@dweekly Whisper Translation has worked pretty well if you want to keep transcription local... don't know about chapters (it may have this functionality, I just used the transcription)

@acidshill @drethelin I watched a house in Palo Alto get fully remodeled, everything, had to be well over a million $ in improvements... beautiful results. The house sold and was completely razed, replaced with new house.

@drethelin it could be more profitable if you're speculating it's not worth building something if you expect to sell the land to someone who doesn't want to use that building before the building pays for itself

Hey @FedEx , you've gotten dangerously close to the destination a couple of times... how's logistics going on your end? I'm rootin' for ya on Monday... will be anxiously waiting (again).

Units are fun! Our GPU farm uses about 5,000 horsepower of power for training. It takes about one calorie (small-c) to generate one image edit. E g, the food power that an adult male uses in a day (2000 kcal) can edit 2,000,000 images.

the country is not going to survive both parties escalating, in rhetoric and behavior, much past this point. either we find some common ground, or it’s over.

not going to bother doing “gotcha” stuff here, obviously the rest of the country feels this line was crossed when democrats tried to jail the president (rather than detaining him for five minutes after he rushed a member of the cabinet). the question is just how do we end this?
Pete Buttigieg@PeteButtigieg

Today they have crossed a deep red line. We, the people, must hold the president and his appointees accountable for this outrageous abuse against American liberty.

@NewsLambert Looks like most recessions are gradual and construction is a lagging indicator. We're doing insta-recession, so I imagine it will look more like the other insta-recession in 2020 vs. sane economic waves.

Today, residential building construction hit a new cycle high. Residential building construction is usually in contraction well before most traditional recessions start.
