Over 122M people are forcibly displaced today, most for over 5 years. In SSA🌍, displacement hits regions already under climate & development strain, testing institutions, economies & the host communities. Erik Magnus, @WorldBank Regional Practice Director. #LearningAcademy2025

🌍📚 Exciting progress in building climate resilience in Kenya's cities 🇰🇪 🌱🏙️ From 22nd to 25th October, @GCAdaptation , alongside @IIED and @NuvoniResearch, hosted the Urban Climate Resilience Masterclass #UCRMC Training-of-Trainers for 30 trainers at the @KSGKenya. This vital initiative empowers trainers to equip county and municipal leaders to assess urban climate risks and embed resilience in infrastructure and services. As part of GCA’s support to the Kenya Urban Support Program with @WorldBank, State Department for Housing and Urban Development, and @KenyaGovernors , #UCRMC will now expand through Kenya School of Government to train public officials nationwide—building a sustainable foundation for climate adaptation across Kenya’s urban landscape. #AdaptOurWorld #UrbanResilience #ClimateAdaptation #CapacityBuilding

Improving the welfare of refugees and hosts should be part of a broader strategy to close Kenya’s spatial disparities. Implementing place-based development approaches alongside regional development policies can benefit both refugees and host communities. #RefugeesandHostsKE

The second @KUSP_Kenya aims to enhance the capacity for urban planning in Kenya’s intermediate cities. Today we are in Nakuru undertaking an assessment of the municipal spatial data infrastructure, as part of the @WBG_Cities City Planning Labs.

A resilient and low-carbon system of cities, within which different types of cities can play different roles in Kenya’s development, can facilitate structural transformation without compromising low-carbon growth. #ClimateAndDevelopment #KenyaCCDR @EnergyMinK @KenGenKenya
