High school students from San Antonio's Young Women's Leadership Academy and Jefferson High School participated in a peaceful student-led walkout on Friday, January 30. The students met at Woodlawn Park to rally and unite "to advocate for human rights, dignity, and civic engagement," the groups said in a news release. “This rally is about students using their voices,” said a student organizer. “We’re showing that young people care deeply about justice, human rights, and being active participants in our democracy.” Organizers said the demonstration's goal is to "uplift youth perspectives while emphasizing peaceful protest, community awareness, and the importance of civic participation, including voting, as tools for long-term change."
