@nolightupstairs I don't really think so. Economics generates a lot of just-so stories after the fact, but when has it actually helped curb this bust cycle?

I kind of think if you're gonna take a "no the economists and professionals are wrong" you don't get to use the economist's lingo. Recession is a technical term. Find your own word and demonstrate the concept's robustness because we're literally not in a recession.
onion person@CantEverDie

@LinkofSunshine i mean yeah we’re probably in another great recession based on all indicators of the economy and consumer sentiment

If the TI-84 calculator gets banned from exams because it’s possible to side load ChatGPT onto it, the entire reason you buy an overpriced calculator is gone This destroys the entire company and makes millions of devices useless overnight

@ThomasWillett9 Hang on, I thought you lot always insisted some sort of genital inspection would be required? This seems more like the type of thing everyone wanted. No deaths camps either by the looks of it. Do you think everyone’s going to stop being daft now?

As we’ve always said, & as the Guidance confirms: providers must avoid unlawful discrimination against trans people under the protected characteristic of gender reassignment. The code doesn’t create a general legal requirement to check someone’s sex before they use a facility.

So businesses are supposed to pay piss police to monitor toilets, but also since there's no way to prove somebody's sex, it'll end up sweeping up cis people who don't look sufficiently "man" or "woman", who'll then end up with grounds for a discrimination case

I'm not sure how "you have to provide toilet facilities for everyone (except trans men)" is expected to survive any kind of challenge at the European Court level tbh, or how that's compatible with human rights law
Good Law Project@GoodLawProject

The updated code of practice for services, public functions and associations has been laid before Parliament. The guidance tells organisations how they should approach trans inclusion. Here’s what that means 👇 goodlawproject.org/the-code-of-pr…

@beanman11844458 @bendreyfuss Capital gains tax only applies to people with CAPITAL! 99.999% of people NEVER pay that! (ok,I'm off by a % or two) And we taxed them as such! Then for decades we taxed less and less from the billionaires, as productivity grew more and more. No reason we can't tax them again..

@bendreyfuss U.S. DOESN'T have a very 'Progrssive' tax system. If we did, mufuckas like Bezos would be taxed much MUCH more heavily like we used to back in the 50's to 70's (How the fuck you think we got out of the 30's Great Depression?)

Incredible to see the way these lads have hitched onto social housing as the great evil of modern Britain. And an utterly dystopian picture of cities that comes from it
Sam Bowman@s8mb

Exactly right, and if you allowed these people to sell the rights to these properties, most of them would. It’s a gigantic misallocation of resources, and fixing it is the fastest way to create a lot more housing in central London for economically productive people.

@DaddyVaporub @shriverist popular wise more and less and stuff the reason is the uk uses a method of interviewing people only in airports whereas other countries use information from electronic barriers, how many people are registered for healthcare etc.
