Okay internet, I need a new grill. I want a good solid body, no frills. Nothing smart. Solid cast aluminum or similar preferred. We do like gas bc we grill a lot and time is important. Not very interested in pellets etc. whatcha got for me?

i do this after i cook fish in my cast iron just use gentle dish soap, don’t scrub hard, and only use a soft sponge the seasoning is low-reactive polymerized carbon, and if you if you handle your skillet properly + heat dry + season it after each use, the soap won’t do anything

I went through a phrase where I "touched grass" and had "work life balance" or whatever most of the time I'd be at some party pretending to have fun, impressing some girl who was either trying to qualify for her inheritance (rich) or feel like she got 'a catch' (poor/hot) it just never really resonated with me. "the quarterly explorations into Kierkegaard" or whatever performative intellectualism the McKinsey consultants/ executives would do in LES, just felt like some kind of copy of a copy. like everyone sitting there waiting for a camera team to come in. trying to figure out who at the book club they were going to marry and move upstate with then you escape to the mountains, and come to appreciate these ppl as amazing compared to the absolute rock-level intelligences that live to hike. or even worse, live in Los Angeles and think it's "the best of all worlds" without being able to articulate what exact worlds it's the best of you visit your friends with kids and - when the guard is down, most of the feedback is, "I really envy your freedom". and that's not just some cope, it's a rather exhaustive survey of the ppl I pop in on. then if you try and hang with the crew that's all about rejecting the entire system, or taking LSD, or ayahuasca or whatever that's so utterly tiresome too. like I really don't give a fck about whatever trauma you let go of. I am just trying to touch grass bc ppl online told me to you can go into your room and play video games but what's the point of that when you play video games for a living. and what's the point of reading books when you read 70 pages a day for work. when I want to relax my eyes are so fried, the best activities are either exercising or cooking I think that's ultimately how I landed on Puerto Rico. I like walking on the beach. Sun is good. If I want deal flow I just need to start ranting online about TAO or AI agents or something and can manifest in random places and go into Linkedin mode. For a couple days before the desire to hurl myself out of the conference room window kicks in. Then back to the beach. The other day I watched a baby pelican learn how to fish. Its mom watched it repeatedly dive bomb into the water, frequently messing up. But always trying again. but outside that, the truth is that work is just really interesting. especially these days. all the AI stuff. endless crypto things. the dissolution of fiat currency. ridiculous hyper gambling. for me 'touching grass' is just making sure to do some mix of interesting things for work. it's probably the first time in history you can build something somewhat scalable. all by yourself. because of AI. summoned digital entities that do your bidding. modern day necromancers. that's the question I'm obsessed with. "Is this all a scam or is it actually possible to make something resembling a company, with one, or no people?" if the answer is "it's possible" then not only is that insanely interesting and novel, but it's potentially really lucrative. and if the answer is, "It's not possible, this is all a scam" then there are things right now trading more than the entire S&P 500 ETF that are going to be down 75% and you want to be in the weeds if that's the case. not in the grass. here's to the weed dwellers

Guys $ETH doesn't look good. Not only was that a nasty dump, the long term trading volume looks terrible. Everybody has coins locked up hoping to beat out inflation by a hair and their are no buyers left to eat up the dumps. Grayscale still has ALOT more to dump. Like $6B.

I think the biggest hurdle in replacing Biden right now is what happens with Kamala. It's a little complicated: First, they can't replace Biden without immediately launching a presumptive replacement. They can't only say that Biden won't be running, but that "we're gonna have an ad-hoc convention between now and November." That much chaos would damage the party far too much. There needs to be a successor announced immediately. Next, they can't replace Biden-the-candidate while also saying he's still fit to serve as President. If he'd decided not to seek re-election prior to the debates it might be different, but the optics of not seeking re-election now would obviously be in reaction to the display of unfitness at the debates, i.e. he's not seeking re-election because he is not fit to serve. Here's the problem (two parts): If he is not fit to serve, he also has to step aside AS PRESIDENT if he announces that he is not seeking re-election. He would immediately become a lame duck even before the election otherwise. If Biden steps aside as President, then the VP becomes President - that's Kamala. There isn't much wiggle room there. But Kamala polls terribly in any match-up against Trump. Running her as the Democratic replacement is a sure loss. The Democratic Party insiders know all this, which means they are confronted with the current situation: They essentially have to say to Kamala, "Okay, Biden is going to step aside and you are going to serve as caretaker President until January, but someone else is going to be our presumptive nominee. We are going to ask you to do the job, at the worst possible time, but then you're going to step aside and give it to someone else." That is probably the most humiliating thing you ask of Kamala Harris. There are two main names being bandied about: Newsom and Whitmer, with Newsom being the bigger one. I've lived in California, and while I technically support Biden being replaced with Newsom, I do not like Newsom at all. To the extent that any single person could be responsible, he is responsible for much of SF and California's current state (in the sense that it's mostly macro cultural forces, and to a lesser degree one mayor/governor). I don't think SF and CA are as bad as the Right likes to make it out to be, but even in the most charitable evaluation, both SF and CA fall far, far short of what they could potentially be. Kamala is also from California. She knows the truth about Newsom: he's basically an empty hologram, a handsome guy in a suit, who is insanely good at playing politics and failing upwards. She will absolutely fume at the idea that she would take over the Presidency from Biden and not be given the chance to be the candidate - nay, even be asked to "step aside voluntarily" - for someone like Newsom. Can you imagine being an ambitious VP who's worked your way up, you're young and full of energy, you have a loyal base of cultish supporters, and being told this by the party?? "Oh, we'd like you to play at being the President for a few months and then - because you're not popular enough - someone else will run and you'll basically be ending your political career." Biden can at least claim that he was a VP under a popular (and historic) President, and he can claim his legislative wins under his one term. He can say to himself, "I did what I could. I did enough." Especially when (after Obama) he thought things were done for him. At least he got to play the bonus round. Kamala does not have that - and whatever your opinion of her, she has worked hard to get where she is - and they'd be asking her to end it all now out of party loyalty. They'd pretty have a pretty fucking cushy job at a think tank as a consolation prize to offer. I don't even know if there's anything they could offer her. Interesting times.
