@reddit_lies @RichardHanania Well in the Utah the county citizens that showed up in massive numbers to protest the data center at the council meeting voted for Trump +50 last cycle.

@RichardHanania Where did this anti-datacenter mindset come from and why do you think it’s very prominent on the left?

All these people do is lie. The data center is building its own power sources. And it’s going to reuse its own water. This is just ignorance coming from people who hate technology and hate markets. They have Stone Age mindsets, and don’t understand how anything works.

Why are Utahns mad? This data center will use more than 2x of the ENTIRE STATE’S current power usage and will be powered entirely by natural gas. It will be placed in the desert which due to topography has extremely limited water and (already) the worst air quality in the USA.

Fuck Spencer Cox Fuck The Data Center Fuck Zion Shores Fuck the Gondola The Salt Lake is less than 36% full. It's dropped nearly 10% since 2020. If the salt lake dries up, not only does our air become deadly to breath, but we completely lose the Lake Effect which creates the snow that nearly all our water is collected from. This is life or death, and it's being treated like the complaint of whiny children.

@kevinolearytv We are heavily compute restrained. We need more AI datacenters so we can cure cancer and dementia. Once everyone sees the benefit of AI datacenters will be an easy sell.

I’m the only developer of data centers on earth that graduated from environmental studies. I'm pretty aware of what these concerns are. They are around air, water use, heat, noise pollution. So sustainability is at the heart of what we do in terms of all these proposals. We search for the best technology. There's many air-cooled turbines now, so you're blending in air-cooled versus water. There's so many different ways to generate power. We can also put a percentage of the power generation through solar, wind, and batteries because the battery technology is 10X more efficient than it was just five years ago. So that's very helpful because it makes the cost of energy lower.

@TheSaurus831 They’ve mastered it. Create devastating economic policy that enriches the most wealthy. Blame democrats when things go bad. When things go good and are run by democrats, brainwash folks watching Fox News to think democrats are destroying the world. Rinse repeat.

@kevinolearytv We don’t have enough water for our state. The great salt lake is dying. This data center will take way even more water that runs into the lake. It doesn’t matter if you can recycle some of it. The GSL needs every drop of water it can get. Or we vacate the valley in 10-20 years.

@billybinion Crazy how hard regular people simp for billionaires. We are in over 30T in debt because for 60 years corporations and the wealthy have been getting massive tax cuts and citizens salaries hasn’t increased at the rate of revenue. Amazon rarely even pays taxes and decrease workforce

The labor-force decline map spans both parties and multiple administrations. It’s the current monetary system applying uniform credit and global arbitrage across radically different productivity zones. Rural areas get hollowed out regardless of who’s in office. In fact, political polarization is also due to the monetary system (90th congress was 1967-69).

The US labor force is a living, breathing map. 🇺🇸 Watch the number of counties with labor forces in structural decline spread like a virus across America between 2010 and 2025. Shout out to @JMBDaecius for the idea to do this. #Economics #LaborForce #Trends

@dominique6138 They are for AI computing and knowledge storage. All these AI apps people use need servers to operate and they are much more costly when it comes to power and water usage then the data centers from the past. It’s not sustainable.

I dont understand—once upon a time we had an essentially endless Internet & we did not need these atrocious DataCenters, yet now we supposedly need them when it is obvious Google/Technocrats have limited/censored the Internet to almost nothing. What *extra* Data are they storing?
grist@grist

A proposed data center in California's Imperial Valley would need 750,000 gallons of water a day. Satisfying the thirst of 24 more facilities expected to open in the state will be challenging, experts and officials say. (via @insideclimate) grist.org/drought/califo…

@AlwaysNever0001 @RuviaPawz @JasonBassler1 I work in tech. No it will not. These data centers only enrich the companies that own them and locals in the area are negatively impacted. Taxes will increase to fund construction. Power bills will go up. Environmental destruction from pollution and water consumption.

🚨 The LARGEST "hyperscale" data center in the world is being proposed in Box Elder County, Utah. It's approx. 40,000 acres/62 square miles, backed by Canadian millionaire Kevin O’Leary. Fast-tracked by Utah’s Military Installation Development Authority, backed by Gov. Spencer Cox, with the public locked out of the decision process. Utah, say hello to a 50% increase in CO₂ emissions, polluted water, and 24/7 noise and light pollution.

@AlwaysNever0001 @JasonBassler1 It will use more power than the entire state. The amount of water diverted from the Great Salt Lake will accelerate its collapse. It will mass pollute and Utah residents will pay its power bills while it won’t benefit citizens. Jobs will be lost. Environment destroyed.

I really do hope republicans gerrymander to gain more districts. All it will do is dilute them, making them more susceptible to flip with high democratic turnout, which is more than likely going to happen. Many of those dark red districts will become light red or even purple.

@jamesetta_w By expanding the amount of republican districts they are diluting them. So once bright red districts are now much softer and prone to flipping if there is a strong surge in democratic voting. Which seems likely.

@megbasham @JudiciaryDems Both parties do this shit and you know it. Republicans stopped a gerrymander ban that democrats suggested and went all in so dems responded. Ban gerrymandering, ban the electoral college and you’ll see how the majority of the country votes.

@JudiciaryDems Yes, this is what the map looks like when it hasn’t been artificially manipulated along racial lines. Once you remove Democratic manipulation and districting games, it becomes clear that the country does not agree with you. So this is what the map SHOULD look like.
