There was a time today in #DCvRR game when Mitchell Starc was bowling and Ian Bishop was in the com box. Bish compared Starc’s release points from 2015 IPL to 2026 IPL. He had screenshots of both years and explained what has changed in his approach and said he even spoke to Starc about this change and what might have forced it. I wish I could post a screenshot of it but I couldn’t take it. Anyway, my point here is not about Starc but about Bishop. When this man can do such good research and homework on players why can’t others do the same? This is proper technical analysis. I won’t take names (because that will be one hell of a long list), these commentators are rich, have resources and people willing to do this for them. Why don’t they make their commentary look more insightful and worth a listen? That is because, I don’t think they care. No matter what they say they are guaranteed to continue in that role. When that’s the case why would they bother doing all that work. Just dress up well, turn up in the com box, state the obvious, read the score board, take the salary and go home. Like the Meerkat would say, Simples!!
