I adopted my grandson Mordecai, in accordance to our Haíłzaqv laws & customs. He is a 2nd gen cutoff as far as the Indian Act is concerned & not entitled to Indian Status. When he was in the womb my father said that is Haíłzaqv blood running through his veins. #belonging 🧡🧡

My new apron is adorned w/ my great great grandfather’s eagle design from a late 19th century bentwood box, made by the talented Yolanda Skelton. I can’t describe how it makes me feel, the connection to self. Wearing next week at a family potlatch will be medicine for the soul.

#UPDATE stood for the 1st time yesterday, kidneys are functioning again and will be sent to physical rehabilitation to start getting mobile again. Appreciate the love and support. Still focusing on my health but will be back at #bcpoli #cdnpoli #fnpoli soon

Update; Feb 21 I was hospitalized for a major kidney failure. I am grateful for the care I am receiving but many complications have me in and out of ICU. I will focus on healing and family and will keep you all updated as my health gets better. Appreciate the love and support

Love is the foundation of our families. At Gvakva'aus Hailzaqv with both my sons, it’s a memory etched on my heart forever ~ my youngest son waiting for his fiancé to enter the house for their traditional wedding, with his brother at his side.
