Spotify's UI has gotten so awful. It irritates me on a daily basis. I'm so tired of software that feels like a mediocre fashion magazine instead of a useful tool. @SpotifyCares

@katarinabatina @benblumenrose This is why I’ve avoided management. I think the best design managers advocate and defend their team. Knowing your manager has your back gives you space and permission to do good work. Pretty sure @benblumenrose had to protect me on numerous occasions.

Ha - I will say this about being a design manager at a tech company - if you come from a formal design background - it’s super hard to do well as you’re typically expected to fully give up designing or even design direction and become a coach, “resource allocator”, therapist, etc

ARGH Sonos, one of the most overrated and frustrating products / systems ever made.

I've been having issues with Sonos today of a reset wifi network and it's been 2 hours of some of the most frustrating nonsense ever.
I pulled a 10-year old Jambox out of a drawer that I know for sure I haven't charged in at least 3 years. It worked immediately. Still charged.

A good litmus test when you're making a product is, "would I want my kids to live in a world with this?"
With Vision Pro, I'm not sure I would. We are already so far removed from our immediate present and reality. We don't need more things pulling us away.

I think of Apple as a company that humanizes technology through great design. Vision Pro is extremely well designed and built, but there were several moments in the demo where it seemed like they've lost the script as a company.
