My first paper has been published today! A @TheBHF funded longitudinal observational study looking at the benefits of #CardiacRehabilitation on #HRQoL see below for the link! ❤️ #ESCYoung
Prof Chris P Gale@cpgale3

In this national longitudinal study of 4570 patients with #heartattack, attendance at #CardiacRehab was associated with a temporal improvement in health related quality of life (#HRQoL) at up to 12 months following hospital discharge. @Heart_BMJ heart.bmj.com/content/early/….

Yesterday we lost not only a colleague but a friend Over his career Rob touched the lives of thousands; not just his patients who love him, but of colleagues and generations of young doctors. Our thoughts are with Rob’s wife, children, family and friends
Leeds Teaching Hospitals@LeedsHospitals

It is with great sadness that we share the sudden death of our colleague, Dr Rob Sapsford, a part of the Cardiology team at Leeds for 30 years. You can read the full statement online leedsth.nhs.uk/news/dr-robert…

@gmcuk What a poor decision, how much is too much before doctors just stopping paying GMC fees on mass?

Today, an independent tribunal of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service has suspended Dr Sarah Benn’s registration for a period of five months. Dr Benn was referred to a tribunal because in 2022, she breached several court orders, which amounted to contempt of court, and as a result, she received a custodial sentence. This referral was not about Dr Benn’s right to protest about climate change. Our website has more information about this case and our media statement: gmc-uk.org/news/news-arch… Like all citizens, doctors have the right to express their personal opinions on any issue, including climate change. There is nothing in our guidance to prevent doctors from doing so, or from exercising their right to lobby government and campaign on issues, including taking part in protests. The threat of climate change is very real and we understand why this case has created strong interest from doctors and the public. However, our fitness to practise investigations consider cases which are referred to us and where doctors have broken the law, not their motivations for doing so. It’s not the role of regulators to determine UK law - that is a matter for parliament. Patients and the public rightly have a high degree of trust in doctors and that trust can be eroded if doctors repeatedly do not comply with the law.

@theveindoc So you think it’s acceptable that there’s been a 35% reduction in pay, you think this is the level pay should have always been? I mean I guess you rode the good times and had plenty of private practice so sod everyone else? P.s. if you’re still not sure, you are the baddie…

@benhurdus That’s semantics. It’s a rise compared to what they are earning now

@theveindoc Have you ever considered you might be wrong or that you might actually be the “extremist” that you keep mentioning?

@theveindoc Maybe we wouldn’t be in this situation needing that just to restore pay if a generation of doctors before us stood up for the profession a bit more?

@benhurdus You think questioning doctors going on strike for a 35% rise in pay is extreme? Crikey

October No strikes Electives not cancelled Over 4 wards' worth of patients awaiting admission Almost all risk falling on ED clinicians This is the state of our health service. But it is not inevitable, nor irreversible. Staffing and funding just takes political will.

🚨 BREAKING: @nottmhospitals has tonight declared a critical incident with 220 people in its A&E and 120 waiting to be admitted. Patients are in ambulances who cannot be safely off loaded:

@wonderwall1973 @TheBMA So I started medical school in 2012 so if you consider I started working and preparing for medical school around 2010. So that’s when I “knew the Al job and also knew the pay”. I’ll gladly go back to 2010 pay. Thanks for sorting all this out, you’ve really proved the point

@Master75272373 @Xeon4f145d96s1 @LTHTrust And yet the only department I’ve ever worked in where the consultant and coordinator of a small army of doctors works tirelessly to give you leave when you want it and to be as flexible as possible. All in exchange for one photo which will take you a few seconds of your time.

@sean9n I did a JCF and got a lot out of it, but wouldn’t it be more wonderful if those opportunities could be provided more robustly in ‘training’ posts?

Maybe we need more junior clinical fellow posts where junior doctors stick to one ward for a year and get some time in a week to pursue clinics/research/education? I’d love to have one on my ward.

@DocAnonX @benhurdus @BMA_JuniorDocs They have a contract to provide a service, they knew what they were getting into but like all greedy people they want more and more. All I want is for one person to do a proper job instead of half a job.
