@Jordansurf1982 @benjitindz It’s their self obsessed nature needing them to keep the conspiracy going that all heterosexuals are secretly gay so they feel like they are less of an inconsequential minority, which in reality they actually are.
English

@TheReal_DealDan Article from 2018 about HIV rates when in fact heterosexual men and women are largely responsible for new transmissions because half of you shag men behind their wives backs.
English

@russelldavies63 The amount of homophobia and racism is staggering and I’m not surprised. I grew up on an estate with people like you lot and they’re still the same small minded individuals stuck in the same rut they were 20 years ago.
English

These comments. I think @russelldavies63 has got it right with Tip Toe. It isn’t about immigration. It’s hate and intolerance mixed with inadequacies. It’s not about immigration, women or children. If you care about women why do you knock them around so much?
English

@OtobonHello I think the mistake is assuming there are only two options: either everyone there is a racist, or nobody there is.
Reality is usually messier than that.
English

@OtobonHello If it really were “that simple”, sociology, criminology and psychology wouldn’t exist.
Culture influences people. It doesn’t determine them.
English

@ohisaymatron @marc_ramag25575 @parlyparty Haven’t heard that since I was in school. Must of taken you a long time to think up that insult.
English

@benjitindz Yeah it's been a good chat/debate. Enjoy the rest of your evening
English

@OtobonHello I actually agree that some on the left struggle to discuss immigration, integration and religious extremism honestly.
I just think some on the right struggle to discuss them without slipping into generalisations. Nuance seems in short supply everywhere these days.
English

@benjitindz It does. I have been pro immigration my whole life but the wilful denial of the realities of Islamic extremism & misogyny & anti-west sentiment fomented by this religion is changing my society for the worse. Teh fact the left can no longer engage in nuanced debate is staggering!
English

@ohisaymatron The irony of calling someone infantile while throwing playground insults isn’t lost on me.
English

@Phil_A_Irving That’s probably a fair place to leave it.
I understand the fear. You understand my concern about generalising. We may disagree on some causes and solutions, but at least we’ve had a more constructive conversation than most people manage on here.
English

@benjitindz You've reminded me that we need to keep an open mind. Not to paint everyone with the same brush as the villains. But I hope I've helped you understand why the protesters, and me, are doing and saying what we do. You have a point, and so do I and them
English

@Phil_A_Irving I trust my gut too. The problem is that our brains evolved to detect threats, not statistics.
That’s why instinct is excellent for survival, but not always for understanding society.
English

@benjitindz I always go on gut reaction/instinct. I'm not closed minded and am open to change my opinion if I get proof I'm wrong. I will accept it. Have only had my opinions changed a couple of times but I trust my gut reaction.
English

@Phil_A_Irving I completely understand that. The difficulty is that personal experience can teach us caution, but it can also lead us to overestimate risk.
That’s why I try to balance instinct with evidence.
English

@benjitindz Yeah and for me it's if it happened once, it can and probably will happen again
English

@Phil_A_Irving That’s probably the best point you’ve made. Fear is real and often rooted in genuine experiences.
Where I differ is that I think fear should make us curious, not certain.
English

@benjitindz A simplified analogy. Years ago where I was living was broken into while I was sleeping upstairs. I didn't hear a thing. Afterwards I changed the locks, put in a burglar alarm. Didn't sleep for months & had to move out. Once a fear gets root, it's hard to shift even if groundless
English

@OtobonHello The irony is you’re accusing me of ideological thinking while jumping from crime statistics to conclusions about millions of people you’ve never met.
Data can tell us who commits crime. It can’t tell us that an entire ethnicity or culture is predisposed to criminality.
English

@benjitindz Data dear, data! It’s now undeniable that importing men from violent misogynistic cultures surprise, surprise leads to less safety for women in the UK. Look up the increase % of assaults on public transport by foreign nationals, it sickening. As is yr ideologically driven denial!
English

@Phil_A_Irving Yes, I can understand the fear. I don’t think everyone protesting is racist or far right.
Where we differ is that I don’t think fear is evidence. People can be genuinely worried and still be wrong about the cause of that worry.
English

@benjitindz But can you see why thousands are demonstrating today? Can you at least understand why they (and me) are scared/wary? It's not because they are (all) racist and far right. They have genuine fear. It may be thru ignorance, but it's real fear
English

@Phil_A_Irving I don’t think we’re that far apart. Criminals should be identified, prosecuted and removed where appropriate.
I just don’t think the existence of criminal migrants means all migrants should be viewed through that same lens.
English

@benjitindz We definitely agree on some points. They say one bad apple doesn't spoil the crop, so I can see your point on that. But those coming in on the boats ... if above board, why no documentation? Quite a few of them have gone on to commit sex offences once here. I can't get past that
English

@benjitindz @parlyparty You didn’t get a good kicking today is because the police were there to protect you, that’s not always going to happen
English

@Phil_A_Irving I think we probably agree more than we disagree. I support secure borders, integration and tackling crime.
Where I differ is that I try not to let the worst examples define millions of people. That’s the bit I struggle with.
English

@benjitindz I would welcome evidence to change my mind. Just so I can sleep easier.
