Pakistan’s Minister of Defense on April 9th, in a Jew hating diatribe:
“Israel is evil and curse for humanity….I hope and pray people who created this cancerous state on Palestinian land to get rid of European jews burn in hell.”
Pakistan is not an impartial actor and they should not be permitted to mediate anything. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Pakistanis gave one “list” of demands to the Iranians and another one entirely to the Americans to pressure Israel and make a shit storm themselves. Never trust them.

It looks like Trump used the Pakistanis to get his off-ramp and then went directly against what Shehbaz Sharif had outlined in his ceasefire announcement. The Pakistani ambassador to the U.S. confirmed today that the ceasefire proposal included Lebanon. And yet, it's being reported that Trump encouraged Netanyahu to escalate his attacks against Lebanon even as the ceasefire proposal was being put forward.

The White House asked Pakistan to mediate the ceasefire talks, and Pakistan’s PM announced: “I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon and elsewhere, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.”
Israel has carried out large scale massacres in Lebanon since, and Trump has apparently approved of this. Iran saying the strait is now closed again as a result of this treachery.

The world is lauding Pakistan for mediating a ceasefire through a war that could have unleashed the worst kind of catastrophe. Trump who spoke the language of ending the Iranian civilisation till last night is now speaking the language of peace. It is a sobering moment for India that now needs to really work on its foreign policy and instead of pleasing domestic actors needs to think of long term goals and not grandstanding in elections. Propaganda films might win us elections but not elevate our status as vishwaguru in world politics
