Last year, the FCC upheld its 2022 decision to deny SpaceX's @Starlink an $885 million subsidy to bring broadband to 642,000 Americans living in rural areas. FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel didn't think Starlink could deliver the promised service. Today, Starlink is connecting over 7,700 new customers per day, FEMA is sending Starlink terminals to help victims in North Carolina due to Hurricane Helene, and the world's largest airlines are signing contracts to outfit their entire fleets with it. It has proven to be a reliable and fast service for millions of users. The FCC had program requirements that Starlink didn't have to meet until 2025, yet the FCC Chair was unfairly making a prediction about whether Starlink would meet them or not years before the deadline. Starlink needed to show that it was more likely than not that it could provide high-speed Internet service (low-latency, 100/20 Mbps service) to at least 40% of the 642,000 rural premises by Dec 31, 2025. Starlink did that. So why revoke that $885M award? It doesn't make any sense. FCC Chair Rosenworcel suggested Starlink is not a trustworthy technology. If that were true, why are other parts of the U.S. government entering into large contracts with @SpaceX for Starlink service? The FCC should reverse its decision, because if the government tries to connect these 642,000 people using fiber, it will cost 10 times more and take years longer. SpaceX's Starlink terminal production is ramping up so fast that they will be the largest printed circuit board manufacturer in the Americas within a few months. Clearly FSD is a Level 4 system. You can tell FSD to take you to the store. It will choose a route, do all the driving and there's a reasonable chance it will get there without any human input. That's a self-driving car. However, it's far worse than a 15 yr old with a learners' permit. FSD is Level 4 in the same way that a Waymo/Cruise/Zoox are Level 4 when they have an employee in the car supervising it. It also cannot be a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System because it does not assist the driver. It takes total control of the entire driving process and the human is there to assist FSD when it tries to kill them. FSD is not adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist, which is what L2 is supposed to be. FSD is simply masquerading as a Level 2 driver assist to avoid the regulation and scrutiny that comes with being Level 4.

As the President and Co-Founder of the Tesla Columbus Ohio Owners group, I, @royserrutojr , have always appreciated @tesla’s safety record and focus on building the safest cars. On Tuesday, May 14 that focus saved my life. While stopped on an exit ramp on I-71 coming home from work, an Audi came up behind me going ~70 MPH and slammed into the back of me. The impact was so great it caused me to propel forward and spin into the left lane of incoming traffic where I was then hit by a semi truck going ~70 MPH and, according to a police officer who witnessed the whole thing in real time, my Tesla went under the semi truck. I was immediately transported to a local hospital by EMS but I was able to walk away from the scene. The only reason I was able to walk away is because of Tesla’s engineering and focus on safely. In addition the safety technology worked flawlessly. Either my Tesla or my @Apple iPhone 15 Pro immediately detected the crash and called 911. Shortly after that my Apple Watch detected the crash and also called 911.
