@AgreeingBook13 I don’t know if I’d agree that the postgame is much of a highlight of BW (I’d give that a lot more to BW2), but you can absolutely tell there was passion in this gen and the first game in particular is pretty much unbeatable as far as the main story progression.

Feels like the last pokemon game they genuinely wanted to make. Biggest dex of new pokemon, a story that takes itself seriously, and it had an actual post game.

Notice how DS2 defenders can't just say "Yeah that area is pretty annoying I understand your frustration" they have to say "No actually having to kill 16 enemies with infinite aggro range on the runback to the boss is fine and normal"

Part 4’s twin peak influences ended up giving us something closer to a show like gravity falls but part 8 really goes all in on that lynchian feeling and I think that’s why I find the whole thing (particularly the higashikatas) so unsettling.
