@StonkChris @WadeBlazinggame I think the analysis makes sense, it's the market that doesn't. But apparently we are in a time where we need to analyze the market, not the tech report lol

USCIS lost thousands of employees last year. Its application backlog is at a record high—nearly double its 2020 level. And its Fraud Detection division is larger than ever. Yet @USCISJoe keeps finding new ways to shift agency resources from adjudication to deportation.

According to an internal agency document, US Citizenship & Immigration Services has created the "Tactical Operations Division." This is entirely new. It consists of teams called: "Denaturalization"; "Refugee Re-Vetting"; "LPR Operations"; "Fraud Detection & National Security" 1/

Chinese government super computer (allegedly) compromised and (allegedly) 10PB exfiltrated. The source is CNN. Something about this story is very strange to me. I've been doing cybersecurity stuff for a long, long time. I'm usually on top of most cybersecurity incidents, whether I discuss it publicly or not, yet I have not heard of this story and I have not seen the moniker "FlamingChina" before. Furthermore, none of my colleagues have mentioned this compromise to me. I'm very curious who these cybersecurity experts are who they cite in the article. I'm also very curious on the 10 PETABYTES of data exfiltrated because they is an unfathomable number. 10PB is 10,000 TB. Even in cold storage that's roughly $43,000/month. If it's "hot storage" you're looking at something like, $150,000/month, that doesn't even include the fees for moving the data which would be ASTRONOMICAL. Very very strange

If this is real, it could be one of the largest data breaches in China’s history. A hacker group claims it extracted over 10 petabytes of data from a state-run supercomputing facility, widely believed by experts to be the National Supercomputing Center in Tianjin. This center supports thousands of clients, including research institutes, aerospace programs, and defense-linked organizations. What’s reportedly in the data: - Documents marked “secret” in Chinese - Missile and bomb schematics - Aerospace and aviation research - Bioinformatics and fusion simulation data - Files linked to major state entities like AVIC and COMAC Cybersecurity experts who reviewed sample data say it matches what you would expect from such a facility, though the full breach is not independently verified. Even more concerning: - The attacker claims access lasted months without detection - Sample datasets were posted online via Telegram - Full access is reportedly being sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars in crypto At this stage, the scale and origin are still being verified. But if even partially true, it points to a serious vulnerability in infrastructure tied to China’s scientific and defense ecosystem. If a centralized system like this can be penetrated, what does that say about the security of the data it was processing? #China #Cybersecurity #CCP #DataBreach #Geopolitics #Tech cnn.com/2026/04/08/chi…

@UltraNoticer @JoeLowson0121 @Polymarket It was no the dark web a few months back, and they asked for 5 grand worth of crypto for that, don't think it's US government, most likely a hacker did this but exaggerated the scale of it.

The DOL is about to raise prevailing wage levels and not by a little. It’s a major shift in how H-1B wages are calculated. Here’s what’s changing: - Level I goes from 17th percentile to 34th percentile - Level II goes from 34th to 52nd percentile - Level III goes from 50th to 70th percentile - Level IV goes from 67th to 88th percentile Entry-level roles now price closer to mid-market. Mid-level roles move above the median. Senior roles jump to top-of-market pay. Expect ~35% increases in required wages depending on role and location. This is one of the biggest structural changes to the program in years.

@jillianjane @stephenehorn H-1B was always the dual intent after it was introduced in 1990. During 1952-1990 it was another old program called H-1. These two are not the same thing just so you know. Also your comment does not help with your original statement. Are you quoting a gov website pre 1990?

This is how the system should work The H-1B visa was never sold to the American public as an immigration pathway for Indians It was intended to fill "specialty" jobs for which qualified Americans couldn't be found So when you lose your H-1B job, of course you should go home

@

This timeline escalated fast: Laid off on H-1B Filed B2 near the end of the 60-day grace period Found a new job Filed for an H-1B transfer Then this happened: B2 denied Grace period not recognized Out of status Final notice from USCIS: Leave the country or pay a $100,000 fee and reprocess abroad Timeline went from employed → compliant → out of status in weeks This is how the system is currently being applied reddit.com/r/h1b/s/yzktgt…

$33.1M opening day with zero green screens. Read that again. Project Hail Mary cost $200 million to make. Lord and Miller built the entire Hail Mary spacecraft as a practical set. Thousands of physical buttons, hundreds of real screens, a hatch modeled after ISS designs. The alien, Rocky, is a full animatronic puppet designed by Neal Scanlan, the creature shop legend behind the best Star Wars practical work. Ryan Gosling acted against a real puppet in every single scene. The movie has 2,018 VFX shots. That sounds like a lot until you compare it to Avatar: Fire and Ash, which ran over 3,500. The difference: Avatar builds the world digitally and asks the audience to believe it. Project Hail Mary builds the world physically and uses VFX to clean up wires, remove puppeteers, and paint in space backgrounds. One approach creates spectacle. The other creates presence. This is a $200 million bet against the last 15 years of Hollywood production logic. After Avengers: Endgame, the industry standardized around green screen stages and digital environments because it was faster and cheaper per shot. Studios could reshoot entire sequences in post. The tradeoff was invisible until it wasn't: audiences started describing blockbusters as looking like "video games." Snow White's $42M opening. The Marvels at $46M. Quantumania. Ant-Man built on a soundstage that looked like it. Lord and Miller went the opposite direction and spent more money on physical construction than most studios spend on entire VFX pipelines. Greig Fraser, the cinematographer who shot Dune, lit the Hail Mary with practical lights so the camera could move freely through real corridors. When Gosling floats in zero-g, that's wire work, not simulation. When he touches a panel, it's a real panel. Guillermo del Toro saw the film and called the commitment to practical sets and puppets "a goal, an aspiration, and a commitment. Especially now." The "especially now" is doing all the work in that sentence. He's talking about an industry where the default response to a $200M budget is to minimize physical production and maximize digital flexibility. Project Hail Mary did the opposite and just posted the biggest non-franchise opening day in domestic box office history. The audience can tell. They've always been able to tell.
