love when a city removes six parking spots to build a bike lane and the local news covers it like a natural disaster. “residents say they now have to park one block further away” brother someone got hit by a car on that road last month but yeah let’s center the parking experience

@ajlamesa My assumption is call outs. IMO, the worst cancellation days are actually very predictable. Mondays and rain tend to be pretty clear. Ofc rain and other weather impact driving for everyone, which impacts drivers reporting to their starting point and stuff. But yeah

@ajlamesa There are certainly individual routes where that is possible. Route 24(being cancelled is one that comes to mind). And on rainy days or after major events, that 50% is probably accurate for a good 10-15% of routes.

Ugly and should not be allowed. We have commuter stations with massive parking garages that are never used. Park there, take the train to the stadium. Anything less is an abdication of both our duty to the environment and the project of keeping DC beautiful.

If a city’s transportation policy requires every adult to own a $40,000 depreciating asset to get to work and participate in civic life, that is not freedom, that is a subsidy with extra steps. The next mayor needs to understand this in their bones. Not theoretically. Viscerally

Downtown Atlanta's afternoon commute. Many Georgia leaders drive through this, to and from the Capitol. Is their bias against public transit (and cities) so harsh that they never think: "man, this stinks; maybe we should start providing state funds to MARTA" ?

We hear so much from Lady Bird & co about hypothetical loss of business. But the whole model for business on the Beltline was banking on traffic from something beyond pedestrians. What’s the economic cost of not building the Beltline as planned??

This is why not building out beltline rail will actually kill the whole project… Developers and restauranteurs want the exclusivity of traditional suburbia, but cannot make up the volume with adjust that audience You need public transportation for that
