@GuyLikeSaint Don't get me wrong.. selfish is also a monstrous track. I guess my take is heavily influenced by the longevity of 'WAAITT'. Dave could never do no wrong in my eyes😂

Comedy ended with Shiti. New age comedians kama Mwirigi, Mokaya, Mjaka, Mluo would only convince me to laugh if they impaled their buttholes on top of the Eiffel Tower. Zero creativity behind skits juu target audience ni vipii and TikTokers who do not have much going on upstairs

Kenyan content is literally dance, podcasts, skits and lifestyle. There's very little that exists outside of that niche.

Btw, this discourse about grammar in Kenyan music is a moral panic. You follow the convo and ati the songs feel "vulgar" because of "poor lyricism" caused by bad grammar. The curent crop of KE artists are lyrical masters. Nimewaonea mbali na I know what you are. Mamatako nyinyi.

@betykvic @MathengeKevin I’m sitting here just thinking the way rappers don’t even use the right English. Like we are so hard on our artists for why ????😭😭😭🤷‍♀️

Musicians also fail to observe Ngeli whenever they do use Swahili and don’t feel irked by that at all. Why, for example, did We Are Nubia choose to sing “hio swali yako” when “hilo swali lako” wouldn’t have affected the flow. I get pissed whenever the song plays.
Nywele Ngumu@mariahsudi

An observation, could be wrong, but the lack of proper Swahili in day to day urban lingo in Kenya is so glaring in how music is written, there is a flow lacking, the lack of employment of stylistic devices makes lyrics blunt .. even in sheng it fails and comes off as vulgar

J. Cole says the idea of a “universal classic” in hip-hop may be dead now because bias, hate and the internet have fractured music discourse 👀 "It's too many voices now. And it's too much bias. It's like politics now." “You think if Drake ‘Iceman’ come out and it’s something that I feel is a classic, you think that this n**** that don’t like Drake and been spending his whole time sh*tting on him is going to agree on his platform that it’s a classic? F** no.” "Now you have like niche classics... but the universal sh*t, it may be over." (via Lost In Vegas)

@LoveMeDownPink @ThaAviator223 @Son_ImSleep a universal classic doesn't mean that half the world have to listen to it. Rather, the majority of those who've listened to it can testify that it is indeed a timeless project. I mean there's a lot of people who haven't listened to Illmatic even in the rap community yet it is one

@betykvic @ThaAviator223 @Son_ImSleep I’m just providing an example of a universal artist! The fact he ain’t heard it means you know… it had its time and it’ll eventually soon pass. Because what event (outside a club) you going to and they playing clipse last album?

@LoveMeDownPink @ThaAviator223 @Son_ImSleep first of all, MJ was a singer not a rapper, two different genres Secondly, we're talking about a specific album, and just like Cole said an album may not be critically acclaimed by everyone as a classic upon inception (like Illmatic) but once the dust settles, it may become one
