R1 GM5 Rapid Reaction || 3-2 Loss (MTL): Listen, I know this was ugly. We're in a bad spot, I know. To quote Jon Cooper after this exact scenario in 2022 though, "We let a game slip away, but we didn't let the series slip away." It sucks, it stings, it's not what anyone wanted...but we can turn the page. I've been saying this all year: this team is a resilient, battle-tested group. The players have been saying it all year: this Lightning team is best when they're engaged. Well...you cannot get more engaged than an elimination game at the Bell Centre...we'll be ready. Don't lose the faith. Tonight, I thought when we had the puck, we were mostly fine. The issues we faced tonight were winning the puck battles & exiting the zone. Montreal was faster to the loose pucks. Montreal was more aggressive in their forecheck. Montreal was (WAY) better in the faceoff circle. Montreal was more effective in their zone holds. Tonight was about who wanted it more...and the Canadiens got what they deserved. Yes, Vasilevskiy should've never allowed that third goal; yes, you can blame him for that goal...but you cannot blame Vasy for this game. Right before the third goal for MTL, Kucherov missed an open net. Before our first goal on our PP, MTL had a short handed breakaway...Vasy stopped it. He was huge, and he has been huge, all series & all season. It's not time to give up on him, and it's not time to give up on this team. They've made a story this season of overcoming hurdles & finding success in all the improbabilities. Don't count this Lightning team out...it's not over. Putting female broadcasters in men’s pro sports is horrible for a simple reason…..authenticity and expertise matter. None have played the game at the professional men’s level. They can’t truly relate to the physicality, locker room intensity, or tactical nuances that only elite male athletes experience. Fans notice the difference, it’s like having a commentator on women’s gymnastics who’s never done a flip. It’s not ‘hate’….it’s pattern recognition. Great broadcasting comes from lived insight, not DEI checkboxes. Hire the best person for the job, regardless of gender. But stop forcing mismatches that degrade the product. Viewers tune out for a reason.

@ReviewLightning Have you taken a look at the Dan Boyle trade tree with the sharks? Absolutely wild. We don’t come out on top in all the branches but it does help us get vasilevskiy, and for the sharks it helped them get and trade away Erik Karlsson

The Jonathan Drouin trades tree: Drouin became Sergachev, who became Moser, Geekie, prospect Noah Steen, and a pick that was used in a package to acquire Gourde and Bjorkstrand. Drouin had 4 goals this year. Moser alone had 7. Best trade in team history.
