@Ryunade @AndrewSorge @AP They are definitely planning to update it for more tax situations, and eventually all of them. It just takes time to implement all the logic for every tax situation

@AndrewSorge @AP I hope so! It was easy to figure out until I realized the more complex information couldn’t be accepted. I look forward to that update, if it does come.

California: we could be looking at 14+ Propositions on the ballot this year. I've made a summary of what they do, who's funding them, who's opposed, with links to the full text. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d… More details in thread! 1/

A few random thoughts on the comments to CFPB’s proposed rulemaking on “personal financial data rights” (open banking): 1. Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) This is the standout issue I wasn’t anticipating. With a write-in campaign led by Propel, hundreds of consumers urged the CFPB to include these government benefit accounts within scope: “Please include EBT accounts […] We deserve the same rights and security on the financial products we use as anyone else.” regulations.gov/docket/CFPB-20… The comment letter by Propel itself is worth a read — a cogent, concise, single-issue letter by founder Jimmy Chen: “For the tens of millions of Americans who rely on SNAP and TANF, EBT cards are functionally no different than debit cards.” regulations.gov/comment/CFPB-2… But advocacy wasn’t limited to Propel. Notable respondents included FDATA, Plaid, 16 Members of Congress, and the Consumer Bankers Association (“failing to include EBT […] risks creating a two-tiered financial service system”).

@anatudor This feels like the kind of thing some GIS libraries would do: buffer a polyline and then raster conversion

Does anyone know of a tool that can generate small 2D arrays of 0 (transparent) and 1 (opaque) corresponding to thicker or thinner geometric shapes outlines?

TIL AC Transit is cutting 20% of its service in part because it has to subsidize SF Transit Center to the tune of $4.2M every year because Caltrain and CAHSR backed out of their commitments

@smtology IMHO, I'd treat it as a radio. Ideally, I'd implement it as a radio tag and hide a None option so it would gracefully degrade to that without JS.

Silly use case: You get one free add-on for your meal, please toggle on button for item you would like: - hot sauce (off) - cheese (off) - sour cream (off) ---- Do not want to/cannot add a "none" button

Anyone want to share with me their opinion on the correct ARIA roles for a set of two-state "buttons"* (on/off), only one of which can be selected at a time, and which also allows *none* to be selected as well? *do not literally mean <button> or role="button"

@SarahTaber_bww Interesting! Are there any parts of the seagrasses that might be nice to eat for humans?

Not only that, but seagrasses are more closely related to lilies and aroids like taro than true grasses. They make bulbs! (Rhizomes, really, but you get the idea.) So healthy seagrass beds have lots & lots of rhizomes underneath them. And those rhizomes are also packed w sugar.

While SNAP shouldn't require an interview in the first place, letting people do on-demand interviews is such a basic reasonable accommodation and it's astounding that they're not already the status quo
CLASP Public Benefits Justice@PBJ_CLASP

Experimental evidence from LA county published as a NBER paper finds big impact of call in (on-demand) interviews on SNAP enrollment. All states should be doing this. No one should be stuck waiting for the phone to ring. nber.org/papers/w31239
