“For me, trees have always been the most penetrating preachers. I revere them when they live in tribes and families, in forests and groves. And even more I revere them when they stand alone. They are like lonely persons. Not like hermits who have stolen away out of some weakness, but like great, solitary men, like Beethoven and Nietzsche.” — Hermann Hesse #Shopian

“People are always talking about originality, but what do they mean? As soon as we are born, the world begins to work upon us, and this goes on to the end. And, after all, what can we call our own except energy, strength, and will?” ~ Goethe

We are hostages to time and space. Nothing that enters duration escapes it: love, memory, connection, all borrowed, none owned. Perhaps endings are not cruelty but shape the shoreline that gives the ocean form. To live is to already be leaving. #Srinagar

Cyber crime is on the rise in India. Several X accounts have been compromised, with hackers demanding money to return access to their rightful owners. The account @DrSuneem has also been hacked. Any post, message, or appeal related to money from this account should be treated as fraudulent. Please do not send any money or engage with such requests. A complaint has already been filed with the Cyber Police Kashmir. Requesting @Cyberpolicekmr and @KashmirPolice to take cognisance of these incidents, investigate the matter, identify those responsible, and take strict legal action against the perpetrators. Public awareness and swift enforcement are essential to prevent more people from falling victim. @JmuKmrPolice @SrinagarPolice @hussain_imtiyaz @ahmedalifayyaz @Cyberdost @CICE_JK

Every act ends somewhere. Dostoevsky believed that suffering itself could be a kind of freedom that man, given every comfort & certainty, might still choose pain simply to prove he was not a mere function of his circumstances, that something in him remained ungoverned. His Dostoevsky's underground man went further still: he suggested that consciousness itself is a kind of suffering, that to think too clearly, to see oneself too honestly, is already a wound & yet he would not trade that wound for the peace of a duller act. Perhaps quitting carries the same defiance: not weakness, but the soul refusing to be reduced to what was merely bearable, refusing even the comfort of a clean ending. The question, then, is never whether you quit, but whether, in quitting, you also quit your own memory of what you were once capable of standing for -- for it is not the act that betrays you, but the forgetting of the ground you once held. #Shopian

The Yatra is Kashmiri before it is, in any narrow sociological sense, transplanted devotion. Its route, its seasonal rhythm, its dependence on local ecological knowledge, its place in the region’s mixed economy of hospitality – all mean that the pilgrimage’s very possibility has always been co-authored across the valley’s communities. This co-authorship is a structural feature of how the region has always understood itself, where devotional geography and religious identity were never as neatly separable as later narratives have sometimes insisted.

"Thousands of years and billions of lives later, words remain inadequate. When the urge arises to invent a new expression around sacrifice, love and truth - a revelation enters the being, and for the billionth time in the history of humankind, the heart plunges, absorbs its quiver and gives birth to a heart beat - Hussain (as) is that quiver and Karbala is that heart beat. To every heart, true love To every struggle, Karbala!!" #HusseinIbnAli(RA) #muharram #karbala

As a #Kashmiri, I say this with conviction: enough is enough. For decades, we buried our loved ones, lived through bomb blasts, gunfire, curfews, fear, and uncertainty. There was nothing glamorous, heroic, or entertaining about that reality. It destroyed families, stole childhoods, and held an entire generation hostage. So please stop glorifying violence through fictional “alpha male” heroes and endless gunfights. That is not our story. #Kashmir today is striving to move forward. Over the past several years, we have witnessed greater peace, improved security, renewed hope, growing tourism, expanding opportunities, and a generation determined to build its future through education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and hard work, not through the shadows of conflict. Cinema shapes public perception. With that power comes responsibility. Stop reducing Kashmir to a perpetual battlefield and its people to props in stories of violence. Stop recycling the same narratives simply because conflict sells. We are tired of others profiting from our suffering while ignoring our progress. If you truly want to tell the story of Kashmir, tell the story of resilience instead of rage, of rebuilding instead of destruction, of aspirations instead of ammunition, of ordinary people reclaiming their lives after decades of pain. The world has seen enough films about our wounds. It is time they saw our healing. Let Kashmir be known for its people, its culture, its aspirations, and its future—not as a permanent stage for violence and cinematic spectacle. @rashtrapatibhvn @PMOIndia @HMOIndia @OfficeOfLGJandK @BDUTT @sardesairajdeep .

India’s CI/CT architecture in J&K has become increasingly dependent on technical intelligence. But as militants reduce their digital footprint and revert to point-to-point communication, human intelligence is once again becoming the decisive factor. I write with Dr. @SameerP_IND, Director, Centre for Security, Strategy and Technology @orfonline, on the evolution of communication technology of militant organisations in Jammu & Kashmir. orfonline.org/research/kashm…
