Parents have always had a right to understand what their children read in school and libraries. All it takes is a conversation with your librarian about the books that are right for you and your family’s values and beliefs. But librarians have an obligation to provide a wide range of books for diverse family values and beliefs. Which means, you will probably find books you don’t like on the shelves. You don’t have a right to dictate books available to other families based on your own values and beliefs.
