In a tragic incident in Bhalki town of Bidar district, a woman was critically injured after being run over by a car driven by a police constable. The victim, Gyanabai (45), a resident of Bhalaki, was sweeping the road when the accident occurred. According to reports, the car, driven by Umakant, a constable attached to Mehakar police station, hit her at high speed. Gyanabai sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Her condition is reported to be critical. A case has been registered at Bhalaki town police station, and further investigation is underway. CCTV footage of the incident, which also shows a young boy crying at the scene, has surfaced, adding to the emotional impact of the accident.

A case of a YouTuber's suicide attempt has caused a major stir in Bidar district. Serious allegations have been made against the police department. A young YouTuber named Salman Khan accused Bidar District Superintendent of Police (SP) Pradeep Gunti and several other police personnel of continuous harassment. He then attempted suicide by swallowing pills during a Facebook live broadcast. Salman Khan used to present various social issues through his YouTube channel. However, he alleged that police called him to the office on the pretext of a peace meeting, claiming that the content of his videos was disturbing public peace. He further alleged that he was warned not to continue his YouTube channel. He also tearfully stated during the Facebook live that he was threatened with "encounter" and murder. In his live video, Salman said, "This video should reach Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar," adding that he had reached this decision because of the harassment by the police department. After stating all this, he swallowed pills during the Facebook live broadcast and attempted suicide. He was immediately admitted to BRIMS Hospital in Bidar for treatment. His condition is reported to be stable. This incident has sparked intense public debate, raising questions about the conduct of the police department. Meanwhile, there is a need for a thorough investigation into the veracity of the allegations made by Salman Khan.
