@lookeron247 I told my son to do that he’s 10 and put in his backpack. It’s a toy from a toy store, it’s a COMB for your hair.

I just flew from California back to Boston and my 10 year old son bought a toy switchblade knife that is actually a comb. He had it taken by a TSA officer and she couldn’t open it so had to get help. This is a child’s toy. He was so upset that they were going to take it. After much deliberation and having him have to show them how to open it, they let him have it, only after they took it to inspect further. Don’t even get me started on the delays…..traveling right now is beyond ridiculous.

Flight status update: Why are we treated like slaves and criminals when we fly? Why is it such a miserable experience?

I went to a white trash wedding with my ex wife years ago. She’s a very tall beautiful blonde woman so she was always getting attention from dudes. The grooms dad noticed her and like locked onto her. He kept hitting on her and insulting me. Like “hey hot stuff what are you doing with this short guy” This fucker was probably 60ish and had a mouth that looked like Gary Busey. I started getting really annoyed and thought should I just follow him into the bathroom and smack him? I ultimately decided to let it go. If I picked a fight with the grooms dad I’ll probably get my ass kicked by the wedding party. And he was just old. At the reception he comes up to me with a $20 bill and said go get me a drink. I was fucking furious and replied “fuck you, you buck toothed son of a bitch” I crumbled the money into a ball and threw it. He huffed a little and took off. A minute later his groom son started flipping out and threw a very sloppy punch which I easily ducked and a wall of people broke it up. The bride claimed she was injured during this. She called an ambulance for attention and they wrapped her foot up. I didn’t press charges when the cops came because I would be pissed too if my dad said someone was fucking with him, even though that was a complete lie. The next morning my ex wife’s friend was like “Nate had a lucky night, he found a crumbled up $20 bill at the reception.” The bride ended up cheating on that guy with a male stripper a few years later and DMed me asking me to testify about my “assault” in court so she would look better when she divorced this guy. And that my friends, is a white trash wedding.

@paleonormie The only people careful enough to use an e-bike are parents using one to take their kid to school (me). They’re the only ones with enough safety-promoting incentives. Should be illegal for everyone else

@TheFonzPart @rasenburst @Peko_girlboss That’s not what replay means entirely though you both are giving examples or replayable games. For example, gta 5 is super replayable because the added content and the robustness of the single player format. Angry bird was replayable because you started a new game every time.

The pokemon legends games are good, but they have 0 replay value Since the story relies on you doing EVERYTHING, catching, battling, the side quests, you’re just doing the exact same thing upon replay I dunno if I’m articulating it well, but like, they’re 1 time experiences

Thank you Gustav! These are viable workarounds, but the ability to toggle the entire account without going into the settings would be a huge gamechanger, particularly with how often we (parents) are switching back and forth between listening to our music and our kids' music. I'm sure you know. The playlist option only works if I know the songs I'm going to play in advance and have them all tidied up before hand, but usually I'm picking music (or my children are) in no real order. Thanks for responding! I'd love to advise on how to improve this (no charge, I just want it to be optimal for the millions of parents like me in the same boat) Let me know!

Spotify needs to release a “kids” setting so I can play all the songs my kids listen to without it affecting my own Discovery algorithm. Insane that I can’t do this already. My Discover Weekly is just nursery songs and Moana. @Spotify please fix this.

I have tried to ignore this trend. But my people keep tagging me to it. Let me just say a few things since they want to know why. First and foremost, shaving off the hair of a new born is rooted in our religion. And we practice it because we believe the Creator knows the best way to start a life. Once you accept that, then the logic and wisdom behind it fall into place. Shaving the head on the seventh day is a total reset for the child. The prophet (peace be upon him) said: أَمِيطُوا عَنْهُ الأَذَى which means "Remove from him the harm." That word “Aza” is what people translate as dirt, but it means so much more. It refers to anything that is a burden, an uncleanness, or a lingering weight. When people say that first hair is dirt, what they mean is that the hair it is soaked in womb fluids and birth oils for nine months. It is residue from a life that is finished. So, removing it is a physical and spiritual transition that lets the child start with a clean slate. It is like washing away the remnants of the past so the child can be fully present in this world. Apart from that, there are health benefits to it. A quick research I made revealed to me that the birth hair is usually vellus hair, which is thin and temporary. It often traps old skin and cradle cap that can make the scalp uncomfortable for the baby. Leaving it means the permanent hair has to fight through all that old buildup to grow. So when they tell you to shave the hair of a new born, it is like clearing a field before you plant new seeds. You remove the old grass so the new crop has the best chance to be strong. It’s a wisdom that says choose the long term health of the scalp over the short term vanity of birth curls. As you can see the mum is so amazed of the baby’s hair curls. Again the Prophet (peace be upon him) was said to weigh the hair and give its value in silver to the poor. The lesson here is in the value and charity that starts before the child can even speak. It teaches the parents to see their child as a gift to the community and it anchors the child in a system of gratitude. It shows that even the smallest part of a person has a worth that can be used to help someone else. So when someone mocks the tradition, they are only looking at the surface level. As Muslims, we are looking at a purification process that sets the whole life in order. It is about the wisdom of the collective and the discipline of our faith. As a concluding statement, we care more about the roots than the leaves. Allah knows best.

Why do Nigerians encourage shaving off the hair of babies after they turn a year?
