Just a reminder: modern drone technology has Ukrainian roots. It all started with the helicopter, developed by Ukrainian aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky (1889–1972). He designed and flew the world’s first practical helicopter, the Vought-Sikorsky VS-300, in 1939. Born and educated in Kyiv, he later emigrated to the U.S., where he founded Sikorsky Aircraft and became known as the “father of the helicopter industry.”
