Champions League final will not be free to watch in UK for first time in competition’s history. Rights holders TNT Sport have also scrapped free streams of Europa and Conference finals despite misgivings from UEFA. | The Guardian theguardian.com/football/2026/…

With respect to my colleagues in the football writing industry, I am stunned that Bruno Fernandes has been named FWA Footballer of the Year instead of Declan Rice. Rice has literally won more matches this season (35) than Fernandes has even played (34).

Dreadful performance.
So defensive, so boring, so lacking in🔥 or passion.
At least look like you want to be Champions, ffs.

🚨 Enzo Fernández’s agent Javier Pastore: “The punishment is completely unfair”, told @TheAthleticFC.
“Enzo didn’t understand the situation. He did not mention any club or say he wants to leave Chelsea, far from it”.
“He only mentions Madrid, the city, because he was asked which European city he’d like to live in one day, and he said Madrid…
…but at no point does he say he wants to leave Chelsea or London”.

The average female professional footballer worldwide earns roughly £8,400 per year.
In the English Women’s Super League, that rises to around £47,000 — but it’s still nowhere near the £3M average salary in the Premier League.
The numbers highlight the ongoing gap in investment, sponsorship and global media exposure between the men’s and women’s game.
Women’s football is growing rapidly — attendances are up, commercial deals are improving, and visibility is higher than ever — but financial parity remains a distant target.
Will we ever see equal pay in men and women’s football? 🤔

Today marks four years since Russia invaded Ukraine, a violation of international law that remains as immoral and repugnant now as it did then.
We pause to reflect on all that the Ukrainian people have endured. We think of every life so cruelly and pointlessly stolen. We think of every life damaged forever.
Yet we are also awed by the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people and their refusal to buckle to the tyrant in the Kremlin.
We stand with Ukraine.
Our support includes a commitment of over $1.7 billion in total assistance, including $1.5 billion in military support to help Ukraine defend itself.
We remain committed to ensuring that Russia and its enablers face consequences.
Today, our Government has imposed additional targeted sanctions on 180 individuals, entities and shadow fleet vessels with links to Russia, bringing the total number of Australian sanctions to more than 1800.
We continue to coordinate closely with Ukraine and international partners through the Coalition of the Willing, and we continue to push for a just and lasting peace.
A peace that upholds Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, supports Europe’s security and stability, and delivers us a world liberated from Russia’s aggression.

“Health care is not a luxury, it's the right of every individual in Australia.”
That's what Dr Reddy told me. And now, more Australians are seeing that become a reality.
Since we boosted bulk billing last year, Dr Reddy has been seeing every single patient for free at two of his clinics in Tasmania.
That’s what our record investment in Medicare means for people across Australia.
More bulk billing. More Australians seeing a doctor without worrying about the cost.
