Then you have to keep the infrastructure (firewalls, switches, load balancers, etc), operating systems, and application updated. One mistake and the hackers get in. Compliance wise, you inherit a lot of controls from your cloud provider. You’ll be responsible for all those controls when you roll your own. Cloud providers typically give you one place to go for centralized logging, alerts, etc, making operations more convenient.
