My wife is a preschool administrator. Today Justin Trudeau's $10 per day childcare plan rolled out. It takes effect on April 1st. In the past, childcare subsidies for single parents and families were adjusted according to household income. Going forward, every family will pay a $300 flat monthly fee per child. Previously meals were included in the fees, now there will be an additional charge of $110 monthly for meals. There are many children who depend on the breakfasts and lunches served in preschools. What this means is now single parents and low income families will see a sharp increase in childcare fees for their children. My wife has one low income family who were paying $600 out of pocket for three children with meals included. Now they will be paying $900 and an additional $330 for meals, which is a total of $1230 per month- more than double what they were paying before Trudeau's genius childcare plan. Wealthy families will now pay less since they weren't receiving subsidies. This is equity in Justin Trudeau's Banana Republic. The working class takes another devastating hit while the wealthy skate into more sunny ways. My wife spent the afternoon consoling parents who are at the end of their rope and now have nowhere to put their children while they work themselves to death for pennies in an economy that just continues to inflate. Something is going to give in this country sooner or later, and when the straw finally breaks the camel's back it won't be peaceful. We're heading into a very turbulent time.
