@MLStreetTalk it reads like lunacy to me... the analogies broke down too, "... or fire"; meanwhile fire is easily manageable by my folks in the village not centrally controlled somewhere. IMO AGI is nowhere vicinity, this is a capitalistic play. the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

@demishassabis means well; but no one in my intuitive-leap; knows what's going on truly, they're only making really powerful costly tools extending the previous technical trajectories. if folks did know, someone like Sutton wouldn't be breaking off to form a new lab @oaklab_ai.

let no one pull the wool over your eyes, AGI even if achieved with this current style of westernized AI Labs; wouldn't be comparable to fire nor electricity... in that sense it is a bad analogy that shows the "best minds" in AI still don't know what they're doing.

One thing is certain, wherever you go, even amongst your people, there will be those that hate you and those that like you, same with a people not yours. Earth is my home. I will always endeavor to go anywhere in it regardless of what some in that area say - as long as it’s safe of course. The opinion of a few shouldn’t deter you from traveling/living in new places
