@photofan9000 @LibDems I wish it wasn't the case, but Labour - unlike the Greens - have consistently refused to engage in electoral pacts or support electoral reform. I'm working on a campaign where the Lib Dems have to overcome a 12K Tory majority, and Labour have no hope. Will they stand aside?

@LibDems This is great news but you need to start working with Labour. If you had stood down your candidate in Uxbridge and South Ruislip the tories would have lost. It's a stark reminder that without working together we could easily end up with yet another terrible tory government.

If we succeed in overturning the huge 19,000 majority in Somerton and Frome, in what should be a safe Conservative seat, it would be a watershed moment.

@PershoreDan I imagine that that figure includes the purchase of quite a few private jets and houses in Kensington.

I suspect that the Tories are doomed to endlessly "doing a Brexit": knowing what or who they don't want but never being able to identify a specific practicable alternative with broad support.

If one person dies of old age when they’re 93 and someone else dies of old age when they’re 107 that’s a bit confusing. If old age is fatal shouldn’t it get everyone at exactly the same age. I mean old age is not an illness. And which age is old age? Hello?……..

@PershoreDan The Stamp Duty thing is a massive con. People pay what they can afford. Removing Stamp Duty merely means that sellers can charge a bit more. It’s another silly inflationary policy.

HM Treasury has moved into comedy! £11k stamp duty suggests a £600k terraced house! How do you afford that on £30k a year? Typical mortgage can be 4x your salary so even for a couple this is 10x their salaries. I don't think they understand how the economy works!

@BBCBreaking Quadrupling the interest on Government Dept and domestic mortgages ain’t going to achieve that.

Massive Sovereign Dept is the antithesis of Polical Sovereignty. Perhaps we should spend more time worrying about it rather than the colour of our passports.

@PickardJE Capital Gains tax on property would reduce the real cost of housing. Young people might even be able to afford to have families and invest in a pension! Truly radical.

the really radical stamp duty idea would be to make sellers pay it instead of buyers

Oh help, oh no! It's Gruffalo story time, next Monday, 22 August, at the St Mary Centre, in the square outside The Computer Store. Come and listen to a story, join in with a song and meet a very special guest. Sessions are at 10:00 and 11:00. 👉 orlo.uk/gruffalostoryt…

This is last night in the Bath RUH A&E. Basically triage and observation only unless you are in mortal danger. Our NHS is at breaking point.

@gill_kirk @CRTWalesandSW This kind of behaviour affects other people using bikes. I was once abused by pedestrians on a towpath for not using my bell… only thing was I judged it was unsafe to pass them and was following them at walking pace until the path was wider.

Why do some cyclists think it’s ok to verbally abuse a canal user for asking them to slow down? Just been loudly sworn at and then mimicked by 3 men as if it’s the playground, for my polite request. #SomersetAndAvonCanal #Bath @CRTWalesandSW

If only the Tory Party knew what the Alternative Vote system was. Or perhaps they prefer two weeks of internal Machiavellian games rather than providing the Country with stable government?

So, once again ~200,000 highly unrepresentative people - many of whom have extreme right-wing views - will choose our next Prime Minister. Stable European-style consensus-driven coalition government looks wonderful right now.
