@willowwinkle The dunes grasses help to protect the front beach from erosion and do not prevent recreational use as evidenced by the beach festival etc. This argument to remove the dune grasses does not stack up imo.

@biobalbriggan Visiting geese taken this morning from one of Balbriggan's truly wild natural beaches. These need protecting! Leaving the 300m of the Front beach maintained for recreational use will stop further footfall on the rest of Balbriggan's coastline.

Lots of dune grasses and other dune vegetation have been destroyed by a local group on Balbriggan beach. Awful vandalism and so depressing.

@BrigidGallen It's clear that the grasses have been thinned in areas. Another protest is planned for Saturday, the value of the dune grasses is completely ignored.

@biobalbriggan Not very well destroyed as the grasses are thriving. Such a sad sight to see the lovely beach been neglected by Fingal Co Co who once kept this beach looking so well. ⬇️

@willowwinkle @bconin8 Yes, visual evidence of sprayed vegetation and pictures from a Clean Coasts event. The dunes have developed due to reduced raking of the beach.

@biobalbriggan @bconin8 Do you have evidence of this Sarah? There were no 'dunes' here 3 years ago. You'd be hard pushed to dig it up

@ClimateDad77 There is a local campaign to remove sand dunes from our beach, another public protest to demand their removal is on Saturday. A lot of people are against it but politicians support this group, it's so unbelievably tragic.

At some point every one of us will get to be the person pointing the phone - when our town floods or burns, or our community cracks apart as the food starts to run out.

Wondering why food prices are still high? Little-to-no competition across the entire food supply chain allows for a price gouging free-for-all. Corporate monopolies get rich, and we pay the tab. Does Trump have a plan to combat this? Of course not. Keep the receipts.

@CiaranCuffe @DubCityCouncil I'm very distrustful at this stage so I'd say it's glyphosate. Ballymun is sprayed to death with weedkiller annually aswell...only glyphosate does the damage I see. The Mad Max style get up sets a really bad example aswell.

Saw these guys spraying weeds in Cabra earlier. I asked whether they use Roundup from Monsanto. "Oh God no" they said, "these days we use vinegar and washing-up liquid." Nice to see these child and pet-friendly changes from @DubCityCouncil

The council has said it has no grounds to pursue a developer over its failure to replace the Dirty Old Tower at the Clongriffin train station. One councillor called the decision embarrassing. Another said it was “an utter failure to deliver for people”. dublininquirer.com/2024/11/13/cou…
