A league high 25 points lost from winning positions for NUFC now this season. They are soft. Gone is the nastiness & smarts to defend a lead. For Brian Brobbey last time out, see Jean-Philippe Mateta this time. They can be bullied. Mentality minnows.

Good line of questioning here - repeated denial to consider a referendum regardless of election results is absolutely outrageous. High and mighty London-based politicians think they can tell Scotland what to do. We’ll show them exactly what we think on the 7th of May. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

@SkySports_Keith Howe insisted on premier league ready players - we got Wissa, Elanga, and Ramsey. £140m wasted. Our successes have come from the European market!

The more you think about last summer’s transfer window, the more it has killed Newcastle’s season - and will also hamstring them in future windows. £222m worth of talent signed last summer (4 players) on the bench today, only getting a handful of minutes between them. If even two of them had been an immediate success (like Isak, Bruno G, Trippier, Burn etc were) #NUFC would be in a much stronger position and IMO in European places. In addition to the psychological problems when they go in front (25 point dropped from winning positions), it feels like there’s a real issue with staleness in the team. You can get away with one big-money signing not working out…but not 4 in one window. (NB. I think Ramsey is a player btw, but he’s not played enough due to injury).

💰 Eddie Howe when asked why £124m strikeforce Nick Woltemade & Yoane Wissa again started on the bench 🗣️ "I don't pick the team based on transfer fees. I have to pick the team based on what I see. I thought Will Osula was training well and deserved to start. I thought he played well. He took his goal well. He's got the physical attributes, the determination to do really well."

@mcarle17 There's not going to be a referendum. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

@tfalex1892 Howe’s getting a lot wrong this season, but the players can’t escape from criticism. Howe isn’t telling Botman to grab shirts in the box or Gordon / Murphy to be unable to pass to their own team

Beaten by a half arsed side who rested all their good players and played on Thursday. Beaten by one of the worst home teams In the league. Our issue is coaching. Not the transfer window. Not fatigue. Not two games a week. Not lack of time on the training ground. Coaching.

@tfalex1892 100% agreed. We go in front. The opposition coach changes tactics to exploit our set-up. Everyone can see what's coming, but Howe is unable to change things - no plan B, ineffective substitutions. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

I’ve just seen the penalty decision. You can blame a manager for that if you want, but why are you grabbing a player’s shirt to defend a long throw? It’s soft, very soft but still…. #nufc
Luke Edwards@LukeEdwardsTele

As for Newcastle, I wasn’t at the game but that’s 25 points dropped from winning positions and the defeat will only crank up the pressure on the manager. Troubling times and more individual errors in defence. They are an accident waiting to happen at the back Season imploding? #nufc

John Swinney head and shoulders above the other party leaders in the #bbcdn Scottish debate. Others tie themselves in knots in desperately trying to deny people in Scotland a say over their future, while the SNP is offering hope and a positive vision in this election.

Not a single unionist politician can outline what constitutes a mandate for a second independence referendum. They don’t want one because they know they’d lose. Not one of them cares what the people of Scotland have to say. We’ll show them on the 7th of May. #bbcdn

Lots of claims have been made that refusing indyref2 in the event of an SNP majority would be anti-democratic. But isn't it anti-democratic for the FM to refuse to explain his "secret" plan when Labour says no?

On Woltemade/Wissa... I come back to, "managers don't pick teams, players do". Howe sees far more than any of us in training. He is picking the best team to win a game, of course he is. He referenced Osula training well when asked about Woltemade/Wissa absence - what does that tell you? It's not on Howe to pick them because they cost a lot of money, it's on any player to make himself selectable ahead of rivals in his position. Yes, he signed them last summer (albeit panicked & for inflated fees in final week) but a manager is allowed to change their mind based on what he sees. If Woltemade/Wissa want to play, it's on them.

It shows how the SNP is doing precious little wrong when the major topic the BBC calls them out on is ferries only operating at 95% availability in some of the most difficult waters in Europe. Meanwhile from Westminster ….soaring child poverty, sewage in rivers, tuition fees etc

Sam Altman has admitted he is on a waitlist for a procedure that would digitize his brain. The procedure would kill him. He considers this an acceptable trade for digital immortality. This is the person making decisions about the future of artificial intelligence for hundreds of millions of users. A man who views ending his own biological life as a reasonable step toward uploading his consciousness to the cloud. These are not the priorities of a stable leader.
