🚀 Thank You for an Incredible Event! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Spring Space Social with Inspiration4 Astronaut Chris Sembroski. What an amazing day it was! From the inspiring talk about the world’s first all-civilian orbital spaceflight to the meet-and-greet, photos, autographs and conversations with fellow space enthusiasts, the atmosphere in the room was truly special. Events like this are only possible because of the support, enthusiasm and curiosity of our community. Seeing so many people come together to celebrate space exploration and hear first-hand experiences from someone who has been to orbit is exactly why we do what we do. A special thank you to Chris Sembroski for sharing his journey to space and inspiring everyone in the room. Thank you to everyone who has already taken the time to send in photos, reviews and feedback. We love hearing about your experiences and seeing your memories from the day. Your feedback really does help shape the future of these events. 👨‍🚀 We hope you enjoyed the event as much as we did and we look forward to welcoming you to another Astronaut event in July!

Many students and early‑career engineers now see space as their primary professional domain, not just an application of another discipline. That is why the BIS is engaging with exploratory work on the proposed Institute of Space Engineering (ISpaceE), being developed by @DrPeterShaw and colleagues @KingstonUni. ISpaceE is examining how a dedicated professional body for space engineering could support registration, accreditation and clear professional pathways for those working on spacecraft, launch systems, mission design and operations. For students and new graduates, this raises important questions about how degree programmes, internships and early roles can better align with the skills and standards expected of future space professionals. We will share more as the ISpaceE white paper develops in 2026. In the meantime, we encourage students and early‑career engineers interested in the professionalisation of space engineering to follow BIS channels and get involved in our events and discussions on this topic.
