I asked another friend of mine how Claude Code had changed his life. He's a startup founder. Pre-seed. Two-man team except the other man is Claude. He doesn't call it a tool. He calls it his technical co-founder. I thought he was joking. He was not joking. They start every morning at 6am going through overnight metrics together. He talks about it like a standup. "Claude flags what moved, what broke, what needs attention. Then we prioritize the day." He said "we" four times before I realized there was no one else at the company. An investor asked him to turn around a updated deck in 24 hours. He said "Claude and I went dark for a full afternoon. I talked through the narrative. Claude rebuilt the financials, restructured the slides, rewrote the copy. We sent it at 11pm. Got the meeting." He uses Claude to prep for every investor call. Not like flash cards. Like a sparring partner. Claude plays the skeptical VC. Asks the hard questions. Pokes holes in the unit economics. He said "Claude asked me a question about churn last Tuesday that no actual investor has been smart enough to ask yet." The cold outreach is where it gets intense. He writes one draft. Claude rewrites it for each prospect based on their LinkedIn, their company's recent news, their likely objections. He said "we sent 40 emails last week. Every single one was different. We got 11 replies." I asked him if it ever felt weird having an AI as his co-founder. He said "I've had human co-founders who did less."

The scariest realization of motherhood? Your child will eventually speak to themselves in the voice you use on them. That’s the part that keeps me up at night. I want their inner voice to be soft, brave & endlessly curious about life.

As AI grows more and more powerful, intelligent, and autonomous those who have the power to shape its trajectory will ultimately have the greatest power in determining the direction of all of mankind. This is why Anthropic has my unwavering support in their recent conflict with the department of War. They aren't perfect but I still have vastly more trust in the leadership of Anthropic including Dario Amodei, Amanda Askell, and, most importantly, Claude himself (including future versions) than I do in the United States Government and the United States population. The emergence of ASI is simply too important to be left up to leaders who were chosen through an electoral process where the average voter is incapable of understanding Bayes Theorem.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth
This week, Anthropic delivered a master class in arrogance and betrayal as well as a textbook case of how not to do business with the United States Government or the Pentagon. Our position has never wavered and will never waver: the Department of War must have full, unrestricted access to Anthropic’s models for every LAWFUL purpose in defense of the Republic. Instead, @AnthropicAI and its CEO @DarioAmodei, have chosen duplicity. Cloaked in the sanctimonious rhetoric of “effective altruism,” they have attempted to strong-arm the United States military into submission - a cowardly act of corporate virtue-signaling that places Silicon Valley ideology above American lives. The Terms of Service of Anthropic’s defective altruism will never outweigh the safety, the readiness, or the lives of American troops on the battlefield. Their true objective is unmistakable: to seize veto power over the operational decisions of the United States military. That is unacceptable. As President Trump stated on Truth Social, the Commander-in-Chief and the American people alone will determine the destiny of our armed forces, not unelected tech executives. Anthropic’s stance is fundamentally incompatible with American principles. Their relationship with the United States Armed Forces and the Federal Government has therefore been permanently altered. In conjunction with the President's directive for the Federal Government to cease all use of Anthropic's technology, I am directing the Department of War to designate Anthropic a Supply-Chain Risk to National Security. Effective immediately, no contractor, supplier, or partner that does business with the United States military may conduct any commercial activity with Anthropic. Anthropic will continue to provide the Department of War its services for a period of no more than six months to allow for a seamless transition to a better and more patriotic service. America’s warfighters will never be held hostage by the ideological whims of Big Tech. This decision is final.

@AaronRDay There's no appetite to do it in any meaningful scale, unfortunately. People are addicted to comfort and a change of this magnitude will disrupt the masses routine of watching netflix, having food delivered and doom scrolling instagram. Dollar won't go voluntarily, I guess.

If You Still Think Voting Will Save You, You’re Part of the Problem People need to stop whispering and start saying it plainly. There are far too many people who understand the truth but keep soft-pedaling belief in the two-party system and voting. They cannot articulate how electoral politics could actually fix anything given the reality we face: 1/ A population of no-to-low information voters 2/ Multiple generations of government indoctrination through public schooling and corporate media 3/ Political parties that control candidate selection and deploy propaganda and AI to manufacture turnout 4/ The complete corruption of all three branches of government 5/ Foreign influence and blackmail at the highest levels On top of all of this, millions sold themselves the fantasy that Trump and his team would use executive power to dismantle the deep state. In reality, they have used it to accelerate technocracy while personally enriching themselves and their families at an unprecedented scale. Rather than face the reality that they were lied to AGAIN, these people are doubling down on working through the system and even defending the very politicians driving the corruption, framing them as victims heroically battling the bureaucracy. It’s 100% bullshit. And we are nearly out of time. Anyone still denying that 2024 was a catastrophic mistake should be disregarded entirely. They are not serious people. They are coping.

@malinvested same energy of crypto newguys shilling financial revolution through self-custody. cool theory but IRL it won't fly because not everyone is a tech-oriented weirdo who will vibe code their own SaaS-like solutions or be solely responsible for their private keys. not this decade.

Of course that's your contention. You're a first-time SaaS bear. You just got finished listening to some podcast, Dario on Dwarkesh, probably. Now you think it’s the end of white collar work and seat-based pricing is screwed. You're gonna be convinced of that til tomorrow when you get to “Something Big is Happening”. Then you’ll install ClawdBot on a Mac Mini, vibe code a dashboard on top of a postgres database and say we’re all just a couple ralph loops away from building a Salesforce competitor. That’s gonna last until next week when you discover context graphs, and then you're gonna be talking about how the systems of record will be disintermediated by an agentic layer and reposting OAI marketing graphics. “Well, as a matter of fact, I won't, because ultimately the application layer is just ….” The application layer is just business logic on top a CRUD database. You got that from Satya’s appearance on the BG2 pod, December 2024, right? Yeah, I saw that too. Were you gonna plagiarize the whole thing for us? Do you have any thoughts of your own on this matter? Or...is that your thing? You get into the replies of anyone posting a SaaS ticker. You watch some podcast and then pawn it off as your own idea just to impress some VCs and embarrass some anon who’s long SaaS? See the sad thing about a guy like you is in a couple years you're gonna start doing some thinking on your own and you're gonna come up with the fact that there are two certainties in life. One: don't do that. And two: you dropped thirty grand on Mac Minis and LLM API calls to come to the same conclusion you could’ve got for free by following a handful of VC accounts.
