An audiophile’s AirPods Max 2 initial impressions:
• Noise canceling is much improved, but still not class leading (Bose QC Ultra has it beat).
• Transparency is more like recent AirPods Pro models but maybe even better—much less sibilant than the original AirPods Max. This is the biggest change imo lol
• Sound quality is NOT that different—midrange vocals are a little more forward and top end is a little more rolled off—they sound good, but NOT class-leading. Soundstage is worse overall than both the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 3.
• The Digital Crown is a little “scratchy” and not as smooth as my originals, headband canopy seems the same, ear pads feel identical, and they’re still heavy asf with a stupid asf case.
• These headphones aren’t good enough for wired lossless to make much of a difference at all and anybody who tells you differently wouldn’t be able to reliably A-B it blind with same gain (which is difficult to match because it isn’t the same wired/wireless). Guarantee it.
In short, they remain fine.
@cweave I have it cranked as loud as it will go. Not sure why it’s still quiet. It’s an SM7B running through my Scarlett 4|4 if you have any suggestions.
That’s a good point. Maybe we can convince @Chandler_Rome to give a little more detail on why it wasn’t as big of a deal next ep.
So you’ve heard about Sabrina’s new album, huh?
Well, what if I told you there’s already a Carpenter who is Man’s Best Friend.
