Astros closer Josh Hader experienced “arm soreness” before his fourth bullpen session of the winter, manager Joe Espada said. Hader had imaging that revealed “bicep inflammation.” Hader is scheduled to resume his throwing program today, but his status for Opening Day is in flux

I could have sworn some time back there was an update that came out saying Hader was well on course for a full recovery. That we are now in February & yet the team still doesn’t have a clear picture on his prognosis/timetable is deeply concerning.

The Astros have too many infielders and could use an outfielder. The Red Sox have too many outfielders and could use an infielder. (The Astros' pitching staff is also aggressively mid for a team that wants to contend, but don't tell them that.) This isn't hard. Get it done.

An interesting aspect of the trade conversations that the Red Sox have had with the Astros about a hitter (Isaac Paredes seems to be the best fit on paper for Boston): Given the relative strength of the Mariners, Jays and Yankees, the Red Sox and Astros may well compete for the same playoff spot at year's end.
