I am a crime victim who was nearly murdered in a random violent attack by a foreign criminal in Salt Lake County. I have drug addicts in front of my house on a daily basis. The police do not do anything to the criminals when called- if they even show up at all. This is not me making a political point. You saying “crime is down” is gaslighting at best and dangerous to downplay the threat vector.

There are outsiders on the internet who will tell you Salt Lake City is in a decline spiral in order to make a political point. It is definitely definitely definitely not. It’s actually a pretty darn wonderful place to live.

The complacency of Utah Republicans is not something that is discussed with enough urgency. We elect people that refuse to advocate for conservative principles and we are afraid to speak up for fear of being “mean” or “contentious”. This attitude will allow evil to creep into our lives almost unnoticed until the very thing we loved about living here is totally unrecognizable.

I know multiple LDS families who have all adopted. Dozens. In fact every congregation I’ve lived in had at least one, and usually more, adopted kids. There’s an adopted kid (black, with white parents) in my sunday school class. My nephew just married an adopted girl (again, black with white parents). And my church is one of the most socially conservative Christian faiths around.

This may be my most controversial stance as of late: we should befriend the Muslim. I really think how people treat the Muslims--it's a similitude of how people are going to treat us in the future. Suspicion. Hate. To many, we are just as "other" as them. I've never had a Muslim tell me my family and I are going to Hell (even if that's what they believe). Plenty of "Christians" have.
