500 years ago both India and China were conquered by minority peoples from their north, India by the Mughals from today’s Uzbekistan and China by the Manchus from northeastern China and the border areas of Russia, North Korea, and Mongolia.
Despite taking over the entirety of these great nations, relative to modern peer nations, the Mughals and Manchus have fallen out of the consciousness of both nations, having been integrated into India’s and China’s histories, almost seen as one and the same.
While the Mughals and Manchus physically geographically conquered India and China, ultimately the language, culture, and sheer number of the local people conquered them.

I am starting to suspect that the story about Jose Medina is worse than what we've been told. The "tuberculosis" isolation keeping him out of court is suspicious--and this photo (if it's him) could raise the possibility Sheridan's execution was part of a gang initiation.

With where stocks are, I’d tell him to put the $34mm in short term treasuries for a few years.
Earn 4-5%, $1.5MM a year. Then when asset values fall, can invest in stock indices.

@jonbrooks I'll probably elaborate on this in a thread but, yes. Multifamily in FL is getting killed. There was a lot less retail that was built or changed hands but I've seen a couple of those deals go south too. (I run a CRE portfolio for a FO).
