It is finished 🥹🩵🧑🏾‍🎓 I am overcome with so many emotions. I am so grateful to have been able to do this. I am leaving @Columbia with STEM Designated MPA concentrating in International Finance and Economic Policy. I’ve now conquered the edge and Ivy League. Grad week loading…

Our problems start at home: Home Affairs officials, Boarder Management Authority (BMA) Officials, sell citizenship and stamp passports illegally at the boarders for cash. Other countries manage strict entry and movement. We have no leadership in government to enforce the laws and controls. Who is the problem here?

So, when we went with Ausi Modiehi to Home Affairs in Orlando, Soweto, carrying all kinds of documents that could be required, and enquired as to where the bottle necks were from her previous application, no one could explain properly. All they said was the application must be done afresh, but couldn't outline the actual steps. I even asked for the Supervisor/Manager. He came and mentioned the DNA test and having to go to Lesotho Embassy to get assistance. It wasn't clear what kind of assistance. As we were leaving, disillusioned, just as we were approaching the car, I saw this gentleman, an official who once assisted me so efficiently with my child's ID when she was writing matric and had lost the ID. I told him what happened and how frustrated we were. He just said "come, follow me". For the first time someone was able to coherently explain the process. "Go to the National Laboratory Health Service, this is the address in Braamfontein/Hillbrow. Go there and do the DNA test of the mother and all the kids. He pulled out the forms, completed them, signed and stamped them. Without those forms, it wouldn't have bern easy to get the appointment. They are referral forms. He then said, when the tests are completed, the lab will send the results directly to us. We don't accept DNA tests done anywhere else because they are open to manipulation. Secondly, go to Lesotho Consulate, here is the address, also in Braamfontein, a street away from the NLHS. Go and find out what process you need to follow from Lesotho's side and if there is any role they can play. But what I know is that a Police clearance will be required from Lesotho". Indeed this is what the Consulate confirmed. I have never appreciated a Home Affairs official the way I did with brother Bongani Behani. I asked for the email of his immediate supervisor and sent an email of gratitude. We must always appreciate honest hard working officials as citizens and not only complain when things go wrong. 🙏🏽

If you’re looking for a role model as a Black woman in South Africa, you don’t have to look far, this country is filled with women who lead with strength, resilience, and purpose. One such woman is Commissar Baloyi. To every young woman watching her journey, you are allowed to take up space, to lead boldly, and to shape the future in your own voice. Women like Commissar Baloyi don’t just hold positions, they inspire movements. ❤️🌹

A borderless Africa sounds powerful—but without strong systems, it’s a recipe for instability. It would make it easier for armed groups to move freely, drive mass & chaotic migration towards stronger economies, overwhelm jobs, housing & healthcare & accelerate brain drain from smaller states. With huge economic gaps & other obvious vulnerabilities, the result wouldn’t be unity—it would be disorder. Integration must be earned, built & managed—not rushed.

Give me one reason why you hate the Borderless Africa idea..,

🇿🇦 Cabinet has approved the Revised White Paper on Citizenship, Immigration & Refugee Protection for IMPLEMENTATION. The changes are HUGE...like...@homeaffairsZA is now empowered to deny entry to an Asylum Seeker who passed through another country considered safe. Relevant 🇿🇦 Depts can now legally designate trade, occupation & professions reserved solely for South Africans. Check highlighted parts. 🙌❤️🇿🇦
