The medicines & conditions can be a bit tricky to say😁… but the simple fact is that the NHS is securing innovative treatments for frontline staff to offer first class care to people across the country. I was delighted to share a few stories at the NHS Board meeting last week

My review of UK commercial clinical trials is published today: gov.uk/government/pub…. I'm incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses, researchers, companies, public servants, charities and patients who contributed.

I'm delighted that pembrolizumab with chemotherapy will be available to women with triple negative breast cancer following another NHS deal. This will benefit up to 1,600 patients each year – like NHS nurse, Lauren who is now almost five years cancer free. bbc.co.uk/news/health-63…

Hundreds of people with the most common form of an aggressive lung cancer could survive twice as long, thanks to a drug now available on the NHS. The drug, durvalumab, can double the overall time someone can survive from two and a half to five years. 👉 england.nhs.uk/2022/05/hundre…

I am pleased that dostarlimab will be available from today via the Cancer Drugs Fund. This is another example of where the CDF will fast-track the most clinically promising treatments to patients whilst further data is collected, which is great news for patients and clinicians

A 30-minute treatment, the first of its kind for advanced womb cancer, is being rolled out for women across England. Find out how patients with advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer will be offered this life-extending drug, called dostarlimab. ➡️ england.nhs.uk/2022/02/new-li…

We need access to sapropterin/Kuvan for all ages. Get a deal for generics @blakeydark so this is finally resolved. If the NHS and @NICEComms leave generics on the shelf the system will look ridiculous. @ChrisMRiches

Delighted to announce @NHSEngland has agreed a deal with @Teva_UK to secure a generic version of the drug sapropterin for #PKU patients of all ages in England. After an active 12 months, this latest deal paves the way for 100s of people to benefit from treatment in the New Year

Our NHS commercial medicines deals put innovative treatments into the hands of amazing front-line staff like Dr Elizabeth Wraige. It’s great to hear how this third NHS agreement for new SMA drugs in less than three years is enabling such leaps in patient care & treatment

The NHS has today begun the world's largest trial of a new blood test that detects more than 50 types of cancer before symptoms appear. By finding cancer early, we have the best chance of treating it and giving people the best possible chance of survival.

This is one of the most exciting breakthroughs in lung cancer in 20 years. Sotorasib is a precision treatment – now approved in England, but it's a milestone 40 years in the making, with research by @CR_UK and many others. news.cancerresearchuk.org/2021/09/10/nhs…
