@TerryWardWriter IMO, following up isn't so bad. For me the far worse indignities are chasing down photo creds and/or adding extra copy at editors' request without being offered more $$$, and having to jump through insane hoops of onboarding and invoicing just to get paid.

I think one of the biggest indignities as freelancers is having to "follow up." It's a necessary evil, can lead to assignments that would otherwise fall through the cracks. But boy do I cringe doing it. I am sure PR people feel the same following up with us, too #justfollowingup

@CardiganBrigade Yep, I definitely have those trusted sources. But my editor wanted some extras on deadline, with some very specific parameters, hence my TED-talk rant about those contact forms.

@BlaneBachelor I'd also say to have a list of your trusted contacts you can go straight to, if on deadline. I used to have my 'go tos' who knew if I said 'it's urgent' would reply with comments ASAP. Saves you the stress of looking around and emailing
