🚨 Rivian T-Shirt Giveaway 🚨 As with every time I go to the Rivian mothership, I picked up a few things to give away to the community. These are Normal "Hometown" t-shirts size XL. @blatzman washed his and said it shrunk a ton. Post a picture below of your R1, R2, or R2 reservation to enter. I'll pick 2 people at random by Friday.

@Hilbe I’ll throw in my 2 shrunk XL if anyone is okay with a “tried on once after washed” shirt that hasn’t otherwise been worn. For reference I’m also 6’5” like Chris. These are just too short.

@cliftonaduncan These dumbos had previously limited ticket sales to 4 total. I couldn’t even get my wife to buy an extra ticket because we had same address. So we couldn’t even take our family of 5. Had to get my mother in law to buy the extra ticket we needed. Ticket office gave me wrong info

2 years ago the WNBA had its first bona fide box office star in Caitlin Clark. Her team, the Indiana Fever, had to move its games into massive venues, and charge hundreds of dollars for tickets in response to demand to see her play. Even today, out of jersey sales for ALL basketball players, hers are second only to NBA star Steph Curry...meaning she sells even more jerseys than guys like Lebron James. But with the hype came extra scrutiny on a league that was clearly unprepared for the big time, and more interested in identity politics than in growth. Before, the story was about a generational talent. Now it's becoming about a generational fumble. I've never seen anything like it.

The Saga Continues... I could not say it better. We weren't really looking to buy, but the Mevco truck availability and its history really pushed us along. Third time was a charm (after weeks of trying) and the price was finally within our budget. With that new found connection, we contacted Matt and he provided so much info and specs about the truck. He was very knowledgeable, easy to work with, and as close to MEVCO as possible (not a used EV sales lot). We had a deal arranged within 30 minutes! It was also the last green truck he had! We called @Hilbe and @blatzman with the good news and details. We needed time on both sides for financials, paperwork and preparing it to pickup. It was in the DC metro to pickup, luckily Tom took the two days off and leveraged the weekend to drive it back. Matt was kind enough to pickup Tom from the airport so he could see the vehicle and walkthrough the safety features. Even provided a can of touchup paint. Tom flew out and drove 3 days on I-70 back through Indianapolis and was pleasantly surprised by the @Hilbe impromptu @Rivian car show. I couldn't thank him enough for somehow making this connection. Just the odds alone but this community really has an eye out for people. I might stop and find myself looking at Mevie periodically or sending texts to Matt to let him see how much the kids love Mevie. She's already a member of the family.

**Very Long MEVCO R1T Story Time** Let me start off the story with Stephanie (@R1Stephanie) saw the MEVCO R1Ts hit social media for sale a few months back. They were $57,000 on Facebook Marketplace and priced to move. By the time she and her husband Tom had discussed it, they were all sold out. They were gone in a heartbeat. She was very disappointed and rightfully so - she wanted a unique vehicle at a fair price. When would she ever get an opportunity like that again? MEVCO went out of business, meaning there are only so many of these bright green R1Ts in existence. Shortly thereafter, the MEVCO R1Ts showed up on the secondary market again but this time with some markup over the Marketplace price. I reached out to the sellers and they were very straightforward in that they were not willing get anywhere near the $57,000 price. Rightfully so, they wanted to turn a profit on their inventory vehicle. How much over $57,000 would you be willing to pay? Knowing the original price, not much is the correct answer. The reseller's firm price was much higher than her budget. Stephanie once again was left without the truck she really had her heart set on. Now I'll throw my bit on the plot how a bunch of my chance encounters, new friends, and dumb luck came into play to wish this truck into existence. Over a year ago, Jeremy (@pjcombss) noticed he and I worked in the same building. We became friends and when I got my Dune R1T a year ago he posted the below tweet/picture of the truck at our office. (2) Rivian owner Ryan (@blatzman) saw Jeremy's tweet and identified my truck while heading to Sam's Club. He DM'd me and we also struck up a friendship as (2) Rivian owners in Indianapolis. We have a lot in common and he's a giant like myself - he might even be the tallest Rivian owner I know. Ryan has a huge stockpile of Rivian accessories that he acquired from various places. He sells them on Facebook Marketplace from time-to-time. Any time I'm looking for a deal on a Rivian accessory on Marketplace, his listings show up in my searches. I may have beat him to the punch on the 22 inch Sport Dark wheels that are on my Dune though! Just under 2 weeks ago, Ryan and I were trying to meet up to chat Rivian things. We went back and forth via text. I had proposed Tuesday night at Costco, but had to cancel that due to an unforeseen conflict. We finally settled on meeting up that night - Sunday night. Ryan came over and brought beers. I haven't bought beer after I changed my diet/lifestyle over a year ago, so it was a nice treat to have a drink. We're sitting there drinking beers, talking nerdy Rivian things, and somehow the topic of Ryan's Marketplace sales came up. He says to me "so I just sold a camp speaker and a flashlight to the MEVCO guy". I reacted like a dog would if you said the word "squirrel". I turn to him and go "too bad he doesn't have any more trucks, I have a friend that wanted to buy one". Ryan says "he has 3 more trucks he's about to list for sale in a few weeks". My eyes open wide and in my head I say "holy shit". I asked him "can you get his contact information" and "tell him you have a serious buyer". Keep in mind this is getting late on a Sunday night and we've both had a few beers. Ryan opens Facebook Messenger and starts typing out a message to Matt Cahir (MEVCO Former CEO). In parallel, I text Stephanie "are you free", "I need to call you", "right now", and "get Tom". So we do a group video call, I introduce Ryan, and tell Ryan to "tell them what you just told me". While on the video call Matt Cahir responds to Ryan's messages, says he still has the trucks to sell, and gives Ryan his contact information. Ryan sends me the contact information and relay it to Stephanie. Knowing Matt is available, we quickly wrap up the video call so Stephanie/Tom can try to reach Matt. Ryan and I go back to drinking beer and we might have done a quick demo drive of his Gen 1 R1S with the newly installed Comma 4. We await news from Stephanie. I'll let Stephanie take over the rest of the story of her journey to getting a MEVCO R1T. She got the truck she wanted and I am 1000% happy/excited for her! I may have sent her daily/hourly "SITREP" texts over the last few weeks regarding her purchase journey. P.S. It was great to have @pjcombss and @blatzman come by the house to see the MEVCO R1T when Tom drove the truck through Indianapolis on Friday. Thank you guys for being great friends and making connections with me which led to this day!

Limited Edition Taste on a Beer Budget I bought a slightly used @Rivian pickup truck modified by Rivian for mining. If you know Rivians, you know this is unique. 2023 R1T quad motor large battery with 5k miles. It was just driven across half the country and did beautifully...Love you Tom.

I think “shame” isn’t the right word. Harass and ridicule probably are right😂 I kid. R1S is a very safe family hauler. Anyone else’s spouse drive an R1T?
Ryan Schoen@blatzman

@R1Stephanie @Rivian @R1Stephanie sounds like Tom will drive the R1S. That's the same in my house. My wife drives our R1T and I drive the R1S with the kids. @Hilbe shames me for my wife driving the truck in our household

Crossed Paths This Facebook ad from mining EV company MEVCO got my attention especially the specs, age and mileage on the vehicle. The price was right but by the time I could show it to Tom it was sold. Little did I know a small batch of mining trucks went to a used EV dealer that we'd find later.
