U.S. House lawmakers have proposed bipartisan legislation that would require electric vehicles to pay a $130 fee to pay for road repairs annually and $35 for some plug-in hybrid models.
The House is working on a five-year highway reauthorization bill expected to cost more than $500 billion ahead of the current law expiration on Sept 30, 2026. Most revenue for federally funded road repairs is collected through diesel and gasoline taxes, which EVs do not pay.
I think $130 is fair since over time there will be fewer gas vehicles on the road generating tax revenue, They'll need to make up the difference somewhere so they can keep repairing roads, etc.

@itskyleconner @alex_bessinger One thought I’ve had for awhile now is as old Teslas (think 2018 M3P-ish) get to $10-$15k price range… a lot of high school kids are gonna be getting 3 sec 0-60 cars as their first car.
I probably would have killed myself at 16 if my car was that fast.

Huge thermal cycles, especially on my 3 in track mode, compressor overlock working hard, and constant chassis / powertrain / braking stress - really love the way my 3 drives with the full @MountainPassEV suspension kit and some light braking upgrades. I have it set pretty soft but that makes it pretty hilarious - amazing car.

@Kyvlash @Wario64 That actually is a great idea. One reason I hate using eBay as both a buyer and seller is scammers. If you receive or your buyer claims you sent an empty box it’s a he said/she said situation of who’s at fault. Having a physical job verify shipments would remove that issue.

Honestly, AI integration—or Apple’s lack there of—is bumming me out big time. That and using iOS feels like using an operating system that’s 100% work-arounds. Everything is one thing tacked onto 10 other things. Nothing is fully integrated into a coherent design. And it looks like shit.
