@PaulSuttonKing Indeed. 1911 she was elocution teacher. Widowed & back in England she continued am dram - last report I found 1958 Lewisham, when she was 73. Posh family: dad chief cashier Cox's Bank, mum solicitor's daughter. 2 sibs married in Rangoon, 2 became Major & navy Commander.

Only a partial mystery for today’s #Postcard challenge. Despite the postmark and the location of the photographer trying to throw us off the scent the sender states we are actually in Penmaenmawr. The rustic gatepost and rising ground make sense but can we find it?

Small update after last nights drama: Left A&E at 4AM after being told there was no one to do an eye exam till 9AM. Now have an appointment at 2PM Mk2 remains upset & shaken up, but mostly OK thankfully. Incident has been reported to @LancsPolice

@PaulSuttonKing I've replied to the original thread. Think it may be 'Hr' for 'Higher', as this is how the same enumerator writes H in House.

@TheRegencyCook Superscript letter definitely a lower case r. This is the same enumerator's writing of 'House' & the H looks very similar to your squiggle. Might it be 'Hr' meaning 'Higher'?
